What's Up with NFTs & Crypto Art?

"What are NFTs and Crypto Art?" asked Brad Colbow (brad.site / instagram.com/bc / twitter.com/bradcolbow), in what is the "hottest" conversation(s) across the www right now, specifically within the (Digital) Art landscape.

As intrigued as I have been - not as a "content creator" - TOYSREVIL is for all intents and public-purposes; a "(toy)news platform" - but for the numerous online conversations slowly flooding my socials' feeds, and as recently even featured Super Plastic's successful foray into NFT - which has technically bridged "digital art" and "art toy", innit?

Other than that, it is all reminiscent of "Bitcoin" and "cryptocurrency"-talk that I've never partaketh of, and am generally oblivious to what I do not know about, until now.

Featured here are a few more videos to share - for which I have watched thru (most), and realised it is a domain too complicated for this stubborn old man's brain (:p) ... so NO, I will not attempt to explain anything here, except for providing videos of folks talking about it instead!

Above video: "My Art Almost Destroyed the Environment - The Dark Side of NFTs & CryptoArt" by Ten Hundred (tenhundredart.com / patreon.com/tenhun), which has also listed his Art Prints physically for sale here.

A lot of the conversations now has led directly to the (possible/inevitable) stealing of art, and even the negative effects it has on the environment with carbon footprint (*Watch how I glossed over the details because it is beyond my meagre Joe-Blow understanding). Which on one ends weighs heavy for guilt from if you made bank, and at the same time the sum is so ridiculously astronamical, it might well mean you buying a physical print (of an art or illustration), but not bother much about how many trees were downed to make and provide the paper or card-stock printed on.

And as interesting as I had found the videos to potentially be, searching thru youtube had also opened up a onslaught of videos explaining/describing the experience, as far back as "2018" (below video "Blockchain and the Artworld", which I stopped listening in 3minutes in lol).

All I am is rambling into the void, with nothing tangible, or of value to add to the conversation. It is as "legit" as you earn it to be, I suppose. I am not here to knock anyone's hustle, for both the creator and the collectors. Or maybe I shou;d just STFU and hustle harder, and offer up something that folks can help support TOYSREVIL by keeping the lights on online, but... It's like a whole new conversation of "Why Do You Buy Art Toys?", "What Is The Value Of Art Toys?", isn't it? Is "Crypto Toy Art" a frontier worthy of exploration?
