youtubed-version - altho i SERIOUSLY urge you to watch it on HD - then you'd
have a clearer idea of what to expect when the live-action-cartoon hits you in
a darkened cinema, IMHO. and yes, of coz i have SELECT SCREENGRABS :)

no doubt the highlight of the movie will be the racing sequences. c'mon, tis called "Speed Racer" fer pete's sake, innit? (altho i could seriously do without the blue-top with white-ringer, but becoz i is a philistine) LOL - and would lead to a resurgence of vehicle-mods ("zhng" is the local Singlish-slang LOL)




a lot of the shots are colored and lit to look like a page off a comicbook,
looks specifically drawn by Alex Ross, no less dunnit? *noice*


racing beneath the bowels of Mount Doom... heh.


yes, the trailer kicked rump - but my first impression is: looks awesomely cool, will definitely watch it at least once but maybe that's all... = becoz as deliciously vivid as the colors seem to be, they assault thy senses (at least my own delicate ones *blush*) but 90+minutes of pure saturation? totally fit for the Gamer-Generation ... altho too much eye-candy (of the color-spectrum-variety, i mean :p) burns ... but what do i know, innit? ... one thing tho, if The Matrix be GREEN, then Speed Racer is hella RED (V-For-Vendetta doesn't count LOL) ... i've got a feeling i'd need a pair'o shades if i plan to watch this ~ *heh* ... BUT enough of being a wetblanket, onwards!

i can only guess at some point the Mach-5 is gonna get wrecked (or sum such)

i have absolutely no doubt there will be multiple variations of the video-game.

hell, if they could outfit game arcades with Partial (if not FULL) vehicle-chasis of Mach-5/6,
Shooting Star etc - peeps are gonna be fighting each other to get into the seat LOL

in certain cases, Racer-X's styling does make him look like an X-Men-reject, IMHO.

and he could easily pass as "Cyclops" ... squint your eyes a bit and you'll see...

i mean, we could all do without the pursing-of-lips fhanks, but that's just me ...

"The Matrix masterminds Andy and Larry Wachowski usher anime icon Tatsuo Yoshida's classic 1960s-era hit into the new millennium with this family-friendly story of a young racecar driver who takes on the mysterious Racer X in a custom-made, gadget-loaded speed machine named the Mach 5.

Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is the kind of driver that every wheelman wishes he could be: a born winner whose unbeatable combination of aggression, instinct, and fearlessness always finds him crossing the checkered flag with a comfortable lead. In Speed Racer's mind, the only driver who could present him with any real challenge is his late brother - the legendary Rex Racer.

Rex Racer died in a heated cross country rally known as The Crucible many years ago, and now his younger sibling is driven to fulfill the legacy that Rex left behind. To this day Speed Racer is fiercely loyal to family. It was Speed Racer's father Pops Racer (John Goodman) who designed the unbeatable Mach 5, and even a lucrative offer from racing giants Royalton Industries isn't enough to get the young ace to break his family ties.

Upon turning down Royalton (Roger Allam)'s astronomical offer, Speed Racer makes the shocking discovery that that the outcome of the biggest races is being predetermined by a handful of powerful moguls who pad their profits by manipulating the drivers.
