TRE-REVIEW: Mini-G-Robot Series One by adFunture

DEBOXING-MINI-G

The blind boxed MINI-G-ROBOT "Series One" by adFunture was first released at Taipei Toy Festival (circa July 2009) and TRE had the privilege to debut it in Singapore during STGCC in August. CLICK THRU for a visual review of the figure! (Warning: Heavy Image Load)

FYI: The "original" G-Robot toy platform was designed by JUKAI, and the resized Mini-G-Robot struts along at 9cm / 3.5 inch tall.

The Mini-G-Robot Series One features designs from an international selection of designers including Marka 27, Phalanx Studio, ANTZ, Dacosta!, Filter017, and even clothing brands like REMIX and REVELATOR. Shown on the box are 12 x Mini-Gs - with 3 of them being unknown designs (I have yet to pull either of the 3, so can't identify them as yet :p).

Perforated pull-tab is one of the "security measures" to gain access to the inside of the blind-box!

Within it is a sealed silver-foil package containing the Mini-G. Classy :)

This is a pretty "big" package, which reminded me of army rations (quite apt, methinks! LOL). Within the silver-pack is the Mini-G figure sealed yet again within a clear plastic bag. One very important thing to note: The ring to attach to the Mini-G body-form
can be found inside of the silver-pack, and is separate from the clear plastic bag containing the Mini-G - so don't go throwing away the silver pack when you open it, yeh?

The Mini-G I pulled for this particular post is designed by it's originator, Jukai! Peep the in-hand scale of the figure via the slideshow posted below. The Mini-G fits sweetly unto the palm, and literally feels like a grenade!

The figure is articulated at the shoulder-joints, as well as "pivoting feets". Pretty darn detailed for a figure this size - which sits between smaller blind-box counterparts, as well as a tad shorter than "regular" art toy vinyls. With a SRP of US$9.50 per blind box - tis a decent price for an "edgy" and menacing a toy - as compared to the varied cutie-pie molds in the market - and would perhaps endear themselves to folks of niche preferences, IMHO.
