EVENT-TEXT: myplasticheart presents Soft* : A Plush Art Show featuring a line-up of 6 artists and their contributions to the world of plush art. The tradition of plush toys has a long history dating back to ancient rag dolls, turn of the century teddy bears and even taxidermy. Regarded as *comfort objects* these hand-made pieces are typically sewn from cloth or other textiles and stuffed with plush material. Contemporary approaches to this medium have elevated conventional plush toys from mere playthings to elaborate mix-media sculptures. Through this unified art form each artist will have on display a small collection showcasing their own distinct styles.
