more death race
As mentioned before, I've not had the chance to watch the original 1975 Death Race 2000 and thus have neither any preconceptions nor expectation of this current Paul W.S. Anderson-directed DEATH RACE starring Jason Statham as lead-racer "Frankenstein" - except to relish in it's full-on apocalyptic-future x MadMax-ish promise of mayhem and destruction, as seen from these in-production images from JoBlo.com [via] including a write-up of their set-visit - EDIT: found larger-images via WorstPreviews.com!The windscreen-mounted Gaitling-gun turned me on. The would-be-K.I.T.T.-stripes turned me on. The "Dreadnought" turned me on. Natalie Martinez (as navigator, "Case") sure as heck turned me on. And yes, tis all about teh cars - tricked-out, locked'n'loaded LOL ... and that i am in need mindless mayhem and destruction (Not blood and gore, mind) To vent my mind before it explodes. VEEEEEENT! = MORE

I've half a mind to convert my Barbie-cars collection into death-juggarnauts, as opposed to the pimped-out Fast-n-Furious rides, for which they were collected and amassed for, in the first place ... yes, I used to collect 2nd/3rd-hand Barbie doll cars, via trades and online-auctions ... now I can't afford them - BUT if YOU folks wanna send some free my way? I wouldn't be too ashamed to take 'em! muahahahaha *ahem*
What?!? You haven't seen the original with Sly Stallone's car with large knife mounted too the hood???
ReplyDeleteIt's such a B Movie it will be interesting to see what they do with it.
does online pictures and youtubed videos count? LOL - nah man, im deprived of B movie-goodness LOL
ReplyDeletehope they'd at least "entertain" tho :p
I thought I liked B-movies, but man, to see Death Race as an adult, it was horrid. Perhaps if I had seen it when it was new or at a younger age, so I could have nostalgia to look back upon. But I sat through that movie about a month ago thanks to Netflix and it was painfully bad.
ReplyDeleteI know that people often hate when old movies get remade - they feel that either it was unnecessary or they did a poor job of capturing the spirit of the original. In this case, I feel there's nowhere to go but up and anything is an improvement here. In fact, if it is worse than the original, then I could see myself walking out on it.
" Perhaps if I had seen it when it was new or at a younger age, so I could have nostalgia to look back upon"
ReplyDeletetoo true, TSR - i reckon tis either a burden of nostalgia or a preconcieved sense of wanting to hold unto the memories of the innocent-past, for folks like "us" (i dare say) ... and most times, when it comes to remakes, i personally wished that peeps could do something else with the concept, instead of just "remaking it", sorta like "remixing" a song or dance track - sure it may end up like a train-wreck, or perhaps a success, but at least there's something "fresh" about it, and not just fancy CG or purdy actors/actresses.
I actually liked Bay'sTransformers quite a bit, primarily becoz it wasn't a cartoon - becoz i have good memories of the cartoon instead, and hence my childhood wasnt "raped" LOL
