TOP TOYS OF 2020 on TOYSREVIL
"2020" was a ... tough year. It has been a tough year all around for folks worldwide, and I am no exception. Being "unable to purchase any toys for the entire year" seemed utterly trivial, compared to the bigger scheme of "life", I'd understand ... although as a blog about (designer) toys, TOYSREVIL had a harder time getting thru the year, except for the generosity of these kind souls!
Featured here in my own TOP TOYS OF 2020 list (*To add to everyone else's), with all listed collectibles being entirely gifts from artists, toy-brands, friends and family (*BLESS YOU ALL), which I have had the opportunity to view and unbox on video -all withi the year of "2020" - embedded for toy-archival, and for blog-features just like this! And why just "TEN", when I could have "THIRTEEN"?
Counting down from the #13 spot is BEATROOP from Thailand-based resin-slinger Toyerist! Designed, sculpted, casted and painted by @toyerist himself, the concept evoked his "Fat Beatroop" character mashed-up with the aesthetics of the late Haruo Nakajima, who wore the Godzilla-suit for the tv shows! You cannot beat indie toy-making like this, cheers :)
BEATROOP : GOD OF THE MONSTER came in four colorways (*I REVIEWED one colorway HERE), and has been listed as Sold Out for all!

Coming in at #12 is the Halloween GID edition of LITTLE ODDY from Indonesia-toy creator IKY (since Sold Out of its 20pcs limited run)! I heart my collectible characters chonky, and LITTLE ODDY fit that toy-glove, snag and brightly shiny in the dark! And I just realised I've not done a proper blog-feature on TOYSREVIL! I'll remedy that soon :p... Please forgive me my friend...!

For #11, I have "cheated" a little here ... one of my (personal) caveats is not to list multiples of a singular toy-producing brand , and instead choose ONE product to feature, and in this case a generous care-package from POPMART (Waves to Shirley) yielded a number of different BBs, for which I had first unboxed on FACEBOOK Live, and subsequently re-edited and uploaded on my YT, and have bundled together here!

The next TOP TOYS on TOYSREVIL 2020 feature TWO TOYS tied in #10 - with BOTH of them being my BIRTHDAY PRESENTS! And while I'd reviewed the SHOCK by INSTINCTOY blind box (gifted by my sister) seen in the vieo above, I have actually yet to open the UAMOSU from Litorswork (gifted by my brother)...!
And while the figure was first received in 2019, "2020" was the year I finally and truly unboxed and reviewed GORILLAZ's 2D from Super Plastic, of course on video! I first filmed my unboxing on Insta-LIVE, and subsequently "struggled" to add the batteries to his lit-up eyes! (Part 1/2 / Part 2/2 / Short Clip on Instagram) LOL
I'm not going to lie - this unboxing was an attempt to sate my toy-desire for the full GORILLAZ-line up release! Did it work? I'll let you decide, cheers :p

Designed by Malaysian CZ BLANK, this is the first "SKARL" Edition of the 7-inches tall vinyl released, produced by fellow Malaysian-outfit INCH LAB - the figure's streamlined form subtly triggers the aesthetics-allure for me personally, and I cannot wait too see MORE of him!

An independent creator currently residing in Singapore, Jessica designs, self-casts and self-paints here multiples and customs, AND showcase them on her socials - particularly her Instagram @jessica_emmett, which has become a treasured trove of shared experiences of her craft and from her own life! Receiving DRAFFI PUP was a spectacular surprise!

Y'all have no idea how much I miss this genre of toy-collecting, having started out the toy-journey in earnest with the 1/6-scale hobby, since blossomed into "designer toys", I was surprised and elated to have received the Red Baron Edition of The Ghost of Kurosawa 1/6 from FLABSLAB, with this Quiccs X Devil Toys a much sought after piece! ... And the fact that I do not own a single production toy from QUICCS since his earlier self-produced resin creations, THIS was to be such a treat and honor...!

TOP #2 TOY OF 2020 goes to "MIRA Chibi Version" from MEJIN TOYS, with this being a special one-off colour-scheme perfect for TOYSREVIL!
When Indonesia-Based creator Derri Abraham created the M.I.R.A. Chibi version, little did I know he would surprise me with this colorway - which in my hearts of toy-loving hearts wished would have been a "TOYSREVIL-Exclusive" colorway, but nevertheless grateful to have been considered for this one-off! And two of my fav genres: "CHIBI" and "MECHA" = PERFECTION!
I unboxed this first on IG Live, and then uploaded unto TOYSREVIL YouTube. Stay connected to the creator's socials to see what he is up to - including a brand new production colorway for M.I.R.A. Chibi, and a new incarnation of his "Multi-Intelligence Resilient6 Android"!

And my TOP TOY OF 2020 has no doubt have to be the utterly apt "COVID19" resin collectible from Thailand-based creator Koson Kajeekailas AKA KAZE Studio!
Interpreting the virus that became the pandemic that brought the world to a halt, and continue to plague our current lives, KAZE Studio created the polystone resin collectible figure - REVIEWED HERE - complete with a sanitiser-bottle accessory held to its "hands" via magnets!
And while the first production run has since been Sold Out, do stay tuned to his socials (listed below) for availability of upcoming new incarnations of the character - chronicling the journey of COVID19 - including a brand new "best friend"; THE VACCINE!
