TOYSREVIL REVIEW:
The brown box with black print packaging was decently attractive, with open flap and white foam carved out indie. The protective foam did it's job and all the pieces arrived crisp and unmolested.

The figure itself featured crisp form and paint application, with the adjoining arm/limbs possessing magnets built inside the joints, to allow a decent attachment to the upper body.

Two pairs of "arms" came with the set. One pair featured two "folded arms", with which you could attached a bagpack with, while the other pair of arms included a "right-hand" holding a frying pan! There is a sunny-side-up egg prop presumably to go with that.

In addition there is a solid base (with a decent heft for it's size) which has faux plants on both it's "sides", and an attachable back plant piece, where you can display your character on.

There are mini accessories, including a dragon fly - all of these are what I presume to be apart of the character's story and lore.

Being unfamiliar with the character, I had a slightly harder time trying to decipher what each piece(s) were for and where they are to be placed, for optimum display. It would be helpful if there was a "Assembly Instructional" sheet (ala IKEA furniture), bu8t the reality is you could either refer direct to their Facebook page, or PTP will provide you a link to view the images.

MC LELUN CAMPER CRTBOY

In addition to the review, I'd bugged Si Juan for a mini Q&A, to get to know CRT BOY and fledgling toy brand "Project Pilot Toys" more...!

TOYSREVIL: How did the design come about? Which came first? The character mclelun or the toy?

SI JUAN: MCLELUN CRT BOY was first created by mclelun since 2006. Just like MCLELUN, CRT Boy may look ordinary and calm, yet feels constantly awkward in this fast-changing world. Despite everything, he will always try his best to put that little smile on his face, always.

ABOUT THE CREATOR: CRT BOY was first created by @mclelun.lee since 2006. Just like MCLELUN, CRT Boy may look ordinary and calm, yet feels constantly awkward in this fast-changing world. Despite everything, he will always try his best to put that little smile on his face, always.

mclelun is a rare creature that hovers on the brink of extinction in the near-fantasy world of programming. A hybrid designer/programmer from Malaysia - MCLELUN is colour blind, yet a colourful storyteller. In his pursuit for creativity – his inspiration mainly comes from daily life adventures. He enjoys doodling, creating new characters, painting landscape art and also experimenting with a variety of software. His design work has been showcased in a number of local events as well as international publications.

TOYSREVIL: Tell about "Project Pilotz Toys"! And what are your plans for PTP?

SI JUAN: Project Pilot Toys (PTP) founded by SiJuan & Keith Soo is a new toys production company based in Malaysia. First of all, we LOVE toys – and personally, I have been involved in various creative production for many years now.

A lot of the times, artists have been producing their own toys individually, and in Malaysia – So we took this opportunity setup this collaborative platform – where local and international artists can get together and create interesting toys in the future. Toys making is a risky market - and we are risk takers. So don’t think too much; just do it, and see where the future takes us! As for now, PTP’s vision is about making more fun interesting collectible toys and enjoying the moment!

Pilot Toyz Project is hosting a MCLELUN CRT BOY x SUPER7 ARTIST - BORAK BORAK SESSION, happening this weekend July 18th - starting from 9pm "Live" on their Facebook Page, where they will chat about the upcoming collaboration with their selected/invited SUPER 7 artists make over of MCLELUN CRTBOY FIGURE - including Kenji Chai, Michael Chueh, Shafiq Nordin, Abdul TRasahde, Ah-B Blowwater, Ah Guan and Will Sii. Special Guests for the session are Jang and Edward from MY Toy Hoard.

All the handcrafted one-off pieces from the project will be virtually or physically exhibited, and auctioned off as part of a charity project from 1st to 3rd of August - where 100% proceeds will be donated to Selected Welfare homes in Malaysia.
