new look archie comics
i can still (faintly) remember my first Archie Comics were actually pro-Christian ones (early 80's), which turned me away a tad, until a coupla years later when i "re-discovered" the "regular version", and like many young red-blooded men back then, both Betty and Veronica were equally hawt!
but ever since i discovered chinese kungfu comics and later spandex-superheroes, Archie, Jughead and the adventures of the Riverdale-gang remained nothing more than a faint memory, until now: "With more than 60 years of a certain…shall we say, style behind them, Archie, Betty, Veronica, and the whole Riverdale gang will be getting a new look in 2007, courtesy of artist Steven Butler." [via]
" The first of the “new look” Archie and company will appear in May’s Betty and Veronica Double Digest #151, in “Bad Boy Trouble” ... in addition to the look, the stories themselves will change format, switching from short tales to fuller-length stories..." [press release here]
resisting a hue-n-cry over the change, mainly becoz i've not bought nor read any Archie comics for the past coupla decades, innit? "how can they change our beloved characters from yonks ago yadda-yadda" - as much as it leaves them no different than other pre-teen comicbook-fare on the bookstands, it also means nothing more than a memory for us and a survival-o-business to others, innit? *bleh* :p
