about that dragonball z movie
did a double-take when i read this on SHH:
"The 20th Century Fox studio is expected to shoot three big-budget movies in Montreal over the next year; each has a budget of at least $100 million. The films are the Night at the Museum sequel Another Night, Independence Day director Roland Emmerich's remake of the sci-fi flick Fantastic Voyage and a big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga Dragonball Z.
Dragonball Z is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys ... There are no details yet as to when these three shoots will begin, but they are expected to wrap production by next July." /// READ MORE HERE
Dragonball Z? - seriously, i cannot imagine it being adapted into a live-action movie (NOT that it has been stated anywhere such), as a completely-CG-manifestation? (ala Beowulf) = maybe ... but then again, there is the question of the "tone" of the product (as compared to the original Anime/Manga) whether fimmakers will make it a comedy/dramedy/action/mutant/mineral ... or a "remix" / "re-envision" the entire concept (just like "homage" is a just another word for "rip-off") ... i would be interested to find out more (altho there are currently no further confirmation of movie thus far :p) and rant about it later (IF it goes south anyways LOL)
"The series follows the adventures of the adult version of Goku who, along with his companions, defend the Earth and many other planets against various villains. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku through childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adulthood life, but at the same time parallels the maturation of his first child, Gohan, and to a lesser extent, his second child Goten. The separation between the series is also significant as the later series takes on a more dramatic and serious tone."

(totally resisting the over-reactionary urge to shout: "yet another childhood memory desecrated!") ;p
