about combat-r-zero's color vinyl testshots
admittedly i haven't been able to function properly (by that i meant my daily blog-routine ;p) ever since Robert DeCastro dropped Colored testshots of his self-produced vinyl-creation; COMBAT-R-ZERO [tagged] and my mind has been filled up with epic mecha/robot battles galore - each and every colorway popping out from the screen before me, glorious, simply glorious ... (of coz i hadda make an update video for *heh*)
tentatively priced between US$50-55, the 9"-er tall CRZ is definitely poised to come out tops in my (upcoming, hopefully) Toysrevil's Top Seven Toys of 2007 (but alas, he may reach us only in 2008 *sniffle*) - meanwhile, i spoke to Robert on CRZ's current production updates and plans, as well as individual testshot colorways (Disclaimer: images have been "white-balanced" from the original, so final colors may NOT be 100% exact. cheers)

TOYSREVIL: what's the current status of the figures, Robert? could you share with us what we are seeing in the images?
ROBERT DECASTRO: They're currently undergoing some minor corrections. If you notice several of the colorways are missing the "0" (zero) on the head. There are also some small paint details missing. Overall it's about 90% correct. The dark color CRZ is actually a warm graphite grey but looks like dark chocolate on the pic.
TRE: maybe he fell into a vat of chocolate in his battle with the Count Cocoa? (sorry bro, im full of it on a sunday LOL) ... i count 5 colorways? are these all the colorways we will be seeing? and what are the quantity status for the figures?
RDC: The Red ("Mk1 Zero"), Yellow ("Adventure"), Green ("Swamp") and Graphite ("Skunkwerks") colorways are limited to 500 pcs each while the special GID colorway ("Plutonium") is limited to only 200 pcs and is only available as part of a bundled set which includes all four regular colorways. So in short the set comes with Red, Yellow, Green, Graphite and of course the GID.
TRE: *sweet* - the "trick" question would be the release/drop-date status - you mentioned before you're expecting a Dec-shipment? (rubbing-grubby-hands-in-glee)
RDC: We are expecting delivery to our "warehouse" - i.e. my basement HEHEHE (hey it's huge, finished and heated so I can't complain) on mid December 07. However with the mad state of the various postal curriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx etc.) during the holiday season we are opting to avoid all the hassles, disasters and lost Bots and decided to start sales after the new year celebrations. We could be making some $$ I know but I can't stand the thought of loosing any Combat-R Zero's in the mad rush not to mention disappointing the folks that bought my toys.
TRE: understood (so folks? don't go spending ALL your toy-money before getting yourselves a CRZ, yeh? ;p) ... i reckon next would be packaging! any sneak-peeks? (*nudge-nudge*)
RDC: We are currently working on that. There was a shift from bag and header card to clamshell and card insert. Nothing too fancy but hopefully nothing cheesy either lol. I think it's gonna look nice but you know I'm a firm believer in taking out toys and playing with em so I'm not going all out on a fancy packaging that would un-necessarily drive up the price point.
Sneak peek? You know I got your back Andy, as soon as get anything worth showing you'll be the first to show it right here on ToysREvil.
TRE: you're ace, Robert! and totally appreciate you thinking of collectors by keeping the cost down and absolutely agree with taking them out and play! (no one seriously thinks CRZ's gonna like being kept in a box, yeh? muahahaha VIVA-LA MECHA-FREEDOM!) - what's the next step for CRZ?
ROBERT DECASTRO: We're waiting on packaging samples and then proofs of production models. As for Atomic Mushroom we have got allot of things on the drawing table. Hopefully we enjoy enough success with Combat-R Zero to allow us to make more of our visions a reality. Thanks again Andy.
TOYSREVIL: tis my utter pleasure and honor, Robert! looking forward to further developments of CRZ and it's success, yeh? VIVA-LA MECHA-FREEDOM! LOL :)
