just a justice league movie casting update

the Justice League live-action movie [tagged] has apparently
announced casting calls of the following folks/characters:

- Common (Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster) is Green Lantern / John Stewart.
- Scott Porter (Music & Lyrics, TV’s Friday Night Lights) is Superman / Clark Kent.
- Adam Brody (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The O.C.) is The Flash / Wally West.
- Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2, December Boys) is Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul (and Batman's lover in comicbooks, as well as mother of his child, Daimen!) [via MovieBlog]

UPDATE: SuperHeroHype has an alternate list, with the knowledge that nothing is yet confirmed, pending the current Writer's Strike - Hollywood Reporter mentions: "Justice League of America" finds itself without a shooting script and has options expiring on potential actors who recently were screen tested. As a result, it might have to postpone production."

Superman - D.J. Cotrona
Batman - Armie Hammer
Wally West/The Flash - Anton Yelchin
Aquaman - Santiago Cabrera
Iris - Zoe Kazan
Wonder Woman - Megan Gale

... i don't get the casting, really i don't, sorry. suddenly the hollow male-witch-flick "The Covenant" pops into mind (i feel violated even to just mention it). yikes. this is turning out to be a tween-horror flick filled with beautiful mannequined peeps, IMHO ... meanwhile, rumors and news have been mildly volatile recently (hence no updates) but this is the more substantial "leak" thus far (that i know of anyways) which may or may not be true, seeing that the script is yet to be completed, but neat for a read tho:

- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter comprise the League. no mention of Aquaman tho.

- Story elements from the screenplay have been adapted directly from DC’s JLA comic book series.

- John Stewart is the Green Lantern. [Ed: i can only imagine the live-action flick is based on the Justice League Cartoon-template = why break something that isn't broke, yeh?]

- The Flash is the youngest member of the JLA. He has a crush on Wonder Woman. [Ed: who doesn't? ;p]

- Wonder Woman is portrayed as the member that acts as defacto humanitarian and face for the League ... “think of Angelina Jolie and her relations with foreign countries.”

- Unbeknownst to the League Batman has a piece of technology that he developed called the “Redeye”, a cool piece of hardware that he can use to spy unbeknownst on the other League members. Want to know what the secret identity of Superman is? Not a problem. Want to find out what can cripple or kill each League member, their Achilles heel? It’s a snap with the Redeye. Batman files away the knowledge in case the day might ever come when he will need to use it to take down a member of the JLA that goes rogue or becomes a villain.
[Ed: think OMAC with Brother Eye]

- The Redeye is a fulcrum to the events that transpire in the movie. A villain will gain control of the Redeye. Instead of serving as a means of protecting the planet’s populace from the threat of a superhuman out of control, this creation of Batman’s will come back to haunt him, threaten the lives of the League and the safety of everyone on the entire planet.

- During the course of the movie, a member of the League will “go bad.” [Ed: i want it to be Superman real bad, then everyone can pile on him LOL]

- my personal take: so if there's Talia, then maybe there's the Injustice Society somewhere in there? hell, gimme Legion of Doom anyday! muahahahaha

seriously tho, as re-treaded/re-harshed as these storylines may read (IMHO), it sure as heck's more interesting than the current draggedout tomfoolery that is the month soap-opera of the comicbook... *le-sigh*
