about joe ledbetter's metal bummer and vinyl smash

Joe Ledbetter gets busy with 2 upcoming releases, first up being BUMMER from Fully Visual available Feb 13th - which consists of 99 Silver Hand-cast Metal figures and 1 Hidden figure cast in Gold. measuring 2 1/2" X 3 1/2", Bummer has a SRP of US$120-per ... and i reckon "Metal" will soon become the "new-vinyl", just you wait! *you heard it here first LOL*
and there's further news on JLed's collabo with Toy2R: the vinyl-ape SMASH [tagged] will come in 2 editions; BROWN and CANDY Editions, and will be displayed @ the upcoming New York International Toy Fair Feb 17th-20h (Booth #4905), where retailers can place their orders, for an April-ship date ... meanwhile, courtesy of Vinyl Frontier, here's Joe Ledbetter-interviewed:

  1. wow yet another Jled toy very few people will be able to get other than on ebay for $200 *sigh* I hate how Jleds awesome art is becoming lower and lower in my opinion purely because of some peoples greedy attitude to them.

  2. i get where you're coming from Steve ... and on the same token, as long as the products retain a certain level of acceptable quality, or at the very least production integrity, then at least they can't be accused of being commercially churned out ... but once the quality looks like a "bootleg" (for example), then maybe tis time to retire and move on to the next design LOL

  3. well the quality of the Finder Keepers was shocking. Jay from GoGoPlastic had a whole case where the paint was still wet so people were opening them and smudging the print all over the place.
a few of mine have quite a few lines that are in the wrong place as well.

Also I can't help but feel the metal figure looks pretty shoddy. Maybe it looks better in real life.

The Smash does look awesome though.

  4. "wet paint"? = yeeowtch! - rather toxic no? imagine a kid licking his fingers after grabbing one ... eewww...

bummer does look pretty "rough" from the picture(s) - altho no one could confirm the status of the figure via current pics tho ... hopefully i'll get some in time to post :p

Smash is looking to be pretty decent, IMHO - i reckon in the end, tis about quality control :p
