peeped on CHUD [original images via] is this toy-ad (shown above) submitted by a reader of what seems to be a series of HULK carded-toys, either prototype-samples or final figures - which totally veers away from the comicbook-version, with the gamma-irradiated Emil Blonsky now looking like a fossilized ancient mummy, and maaaan, is it fugly. gone are the trademark pointy reptilian-ears and savage teeth, to be replaced by a beast who needs a hair-transplant, and with it's skin pulled tight over it's bones and rib-cage ... okay.
i can understand that on a design and visual view-point mayhap the filmmakers wanted to differentiate between the two behemoths - two giant green forms fighting each other on the big-screen may be a tad confusing to recognize, purple pants or not (*snigger) .. but perhaps this design may be a tad off the mark? (so much for respecting the source material, innit? HAH) ... altho, in fact, he now looks like the Swamp Thing (of Marvel Comics' rival, DC Comics) - altho more "shrivelled" instead of "stretched" (*cough*), but instead of mother nature's green, dude's stuck with MUD instead (mother nature's facial obviously didn't do him much good, ennit?). *yikes*
but then again, a Swamp-Thing may not be a "bad" notion ... unless of coz tis done by way of Simon Bisley's rendition (above-image-right), innit? IMHO, of coz :p
