about upper deck's mvps vinyls (teaser)

from the resin-Subcasts to a new series of 8-incher vinyl figures dubbed: MVPs is an upcoming new series from Upper Deck and spearheaded by MiQ (of TweeQiM) - and features an NFL American Football-player platform-figure with (skin) designs by Jesse Hernandez / MAD / Niark1 / Rebel Wookie / Sket-One / Spanky / TweeQiM / UNKLE Brand and BONDI - on 32 figures. drop-dates of toys would be just in time for the kickoff of the 2008 NFL season. the details seem nigh hyper-stunning and am looking forward to more reveals - /// CLICK FOR MORE

personally, im not an NFL-fan at all (except for celluloid-versions, with Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday" being my absolute fav) so im not going to pretend to know anything about the sport itself - but with regards to toys, perhaps with the cross-over of practitioners of the "designer vinyl genre" unto/with "sports memorabilia" (most notably seen in UP's All-Star Vinyl-line) - may yet create a new toy-genre: "designer sports vinyls"? (or has that already been labeled, and im left out in the cold again? daymn) :p ... meanwhile, here's more about the new series from MiQ himself:

on how the design-rostering works, MiQ says:
"...we curated the roster with some of the guys at UD. we had designed the toys for them, and so they wanted us to be part of the curation duties. once we got the roster nailed, UpperDeck created a "draft" for the artists, and that draft gave each designer a crack at their favorite teams to work with, and as it turned out, everybody was pretty stoked with who they got as their designated teams. as for how it was divided up, some artists have more, some less. initially, everybody had 4 to do, but we had to shuffle here and there to handle things that came up during the long process of doing this first line up ... in the future, we are looking to do these "drafts" public, and bring the community in on it, after the line has the right legs and has been on shelves."

on a KR-boardie's remark about wishing for Baseball-themed figures, MiQ says:
"baseball? ... lets just say that the 4 major sports leagues have all been fleshed out ... this is just the beginning."
