Star Trek Toys, Figures and Playsets by Playmates Toys

STARTREK-PLAYMATES

Yesterday I'd posted about Mattel's Star Trek Barbies based on the upcoming J.J.Abrams directed live-action STAR TREK movie. And now USAToday showcases a variety of playsets and toys made by Playmates (which frankly does not leave me excited nor panting in anticipation, but need blog-continuity becoz i'm cyber-anal like that :p). Perhaps YOU folks would find it delectable? CLICK THRU for mirrored lowdowns.

12" FIGURES are priced at US$30-per - which also features the original Spock (who meets the young Spock in a time anomaly). Cheaper than Mattel's Barbies, no doubt - which makes sense if you intend to breakup the figures for kitbashing, IMHO. The Playmates Toys' products are scheduled to be avaialble in stores starting April 19, 2009, in anticipation for the films premiere on May 9th.

The TRANSPORTER Playset (US$30) comes with Scotty at the controls. The other Galaxy Collection 3 3/34-inch figures fit into the scene. "The Transporter Room truly simulates the 'beam me up' experience," says Playmates Toys' Paul Fish

The BRIDGE Palyset (US$25) features the Captain's Chair and Helm Command Center, 2 Data Screens, the Main View screen, a Bridge floor-plan playmat (decent touch, IMHO) and a 3 3/4-inch Captain Kirk figure. You an re-create the entire Bridge with pieces in (the) Galaxy Colelction figure packs, sold separately.

Each of the life-sized replicas from the film, the Communicator, Phaser and Tricorder (US$15 each), comes with working buttons, lights and sounds from the movie.

I'm personally waiting for a mobile-phone label to actually adapt the design and make it a realworld-working phone ... well, if Nokia could do it for Neo, innit? heh.

STARSHIP ENTERPRISE is a 14 3/4-inch highly detailed model of the Enterprise (US$30) is the updated vessel from the new film. It includes lights and sound effects, as well as actual film dialogue between the Kirk and Spock characters. It rests on a Starfleet shield base that attaches via a ball-and-socket tip that lets the ship pivot 360 degrees.
