INFO-UPDATE: The Regular Edition of "Art-Toys: Photographs by Brian McCarty" (Signed by the Author) is currently available to order via http://www.mccartyphotoworks.com/store.html for US$40 per (sans shipping). The book features 240 pages and measures 10.5" x 9". CLICK THRU for my original post!

PRODUCT-TEXT: Art-Toys is a massive collection of McCarty's work that chronicles the Art-Toy movement through a stunning collection of meticulously composed photographs and behind the scene narratives. These images were created to serve both creative and commercial goals, and as such, they provide a unique perspective on the art and commerce of the Urban Vinyl movement. McCarty's images do more than simply showcases sculptural objects, they bring those objects to life. A number of books have explored the content of the Art-Toy movement, but this is the only book that captures the energy and the attitude of a new era in Pop Art.

ORIGINAL-POST: Folks who know me well enough will know that one of my "heroes" in this "art toy world", is photographer Brian McCarty, and it was he, in actuality, that help drive my passion in this culture (in the "beginning"), with his image interpretation of the toy form via exquisite and emotive imagery via his photographs (which can be viewed on his website @ http://www.mccartyphotoworks.com). The vibrant and dynamic imagery gave "life" to the toy figurines, beyond being a product on a display shelf. If "art" be what many claim them "art toys" to be, then how would you define the work of McCarty, which captures said "art"?

Baby Tattoo is publishing a collection of Brian's work from the last five years (including some never before seen shots) in a book titled "Art-Toy", which will make it's debut at the coming San Diego Comic Con 2010 [tagged] available via both Baby Tattoo and Hi-Fructose booths at SDCC 2010. Someone better tell me these can be gotten online, or I'm going to be utterly disappointed.

While exact details about the book (price, quantity, contents etc) is unknown (well, to me) for the time being, shown above is the cover for the Regular Edition, while a Special Edition will come in a vinyl slipcover, with an alternate cover free of text ~ which is going to be signed by over a dozen artists whose work is showcased within the book. The actual list of artists included will be posted after July 14th. Both editions will be in hardcover.
