The Gipper Bust By Frank Kozik (SDCC 2011 release)
Ex-President of the United States ('81-'89), the late Ronald Reagan is yet again immortalized, this time as a 18 inch tall bust, scheduled for a SDCC 2011-release from Frank Kozik, no doubt available eventually in multiple colorways. The bust is named "Gipper", right after Reagan's lifelong nickname "The Gipper", garnered from his earlier acting role of George "The Gipper" Gipp in the film "Knute Rockne, All American" - a movie in 1940. [wiki]. Gipper comes in a long line of personality "homages" made into vinyl busts including Bird Is The Word aka Chairman Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Stalin, and more recently Ludwig Van and Dead Che.
Shown here are images of the master resin as sculpted by Brin Berliner, including a close-up look at the safety-pin earring accessory! Gipper was first seen as imagery by Kozik for a variety of products, also shown here as a poster graphic, which was even used for a skatedeck!
