Day One for I LOVE MONSTERS @ The Other Culture, Jakarta Indonesia
And while the term "kaiju" might mean different things to different people, subjected to intense categorization in some arenas - between old-school, classic or even modern interpretation of the genre - the word "KAIJU" means a whole lot of TOYS and classic memories to the folks in Indonesia! Heck my earliest memory of 'kaijus' were Ultraman villains in old television series after school - dubbed in Malay no less LOL ("Kaiju" -怪獣 kaijū- is a Japanese word that means "strange beast") and has been ever since, but with embracing the new school order of designs and interpretations of characters that do not fight either Godzilla or Ultraman LOL
Plastic Culture presents the I LOVE MONSTERS event celebrating all-things kaiju, at The Other Culture venue in Jakarta, where Friday saw the event launch featuring delicious spread of specifically kaiju-toys, including Godzilla, Ultraman villains, and works from Wonderwall's Kaiju For Grown Ups and Ugly Kaiju Dolls! As well added to the fun was the screening of the classic "Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla"!
As well the event saw numerous folks contributing to the event with their customs and drawings! I hope to see more of your creations Erwin and Nanobenji!

I LOVE MONSTERS Mini Kaiju Exhibition @ The Other Culture - Jakarta, Indonesia lasts the entire weekend until April 17th [blogged]. Day Two aka Saturday April 16th will see a screening of the Ultraman Original 1960s series (starting at 4PM), followed by "live" custom demos on Godzilla from P.C. resident artists Thunderpanda and Saltnpaper (starting from 5PM onwards), as well look forward to FUN and GANES with Plastic Culture. There will be also be a live band performance by Jethro (hope they'd take requests to do classic kaiju show-tunes tho! LOL).
