TOYSREVIL for San Diego Comic-Con 2011
Four days of San Diego Comic Con 2011 ("5" counting Preview Night), and what do I have to show for it? These four montaged images (all images are hyper-linked to their respective day's news-posts), and a series of Top Ten Toy Wants, and yes, even an Award for "Best Blog" (who woulda guessed, right? WHOOP!). A week has since passed, and folks attending the event have since been flooding the net with their images. Time for me to step back and enjoy the view, somewhat :)
But that does not mean TOYSREVIL is forgetting SDCC altogether! Continued coverage currently includes "My Fav SDCC-Score" (open to anybody to share) and "Most Memorable SDCC-Moments", and by this weekend's end, I will wrap everything up, and move on to the next cycle of toy-news. Meanwhile, all-forms of SDCC-bloggery is available to read by CLICKING HERE :)
I mentioned on tweeter, my coverage of SDCC depends on other folks' coverage, as I am unable to be physically there on the Convention-floor, to snaps pics of my own, to meet folks personally and shake their hands, to perhaps get to know folks beyond emails and online pleasantries. But that's the reality I live with now, and I have since learnt not to lament too much about the inability … well, not much, anyways.
I haven't lamented on missing out on SDCC for a while now - predominantly because for a period recently, I had felt my dream of attending SDCC, would be an unrequited dream. "Too far", "too expensive", with the Taipei Toy Festival closer to Singapore, and perhaps even more affordable. I have not been blogging for big-bucks, and the reality of this dream, was such ~ only a dream.
Then I had Stroke last year. That was a game-changer to "life", moreso than I have ever let on to anyone online - and that changes "decisions", that alters perceptions more than anyone dare claim understandable. So what if I could even afford the trip now? I wouldn't be able to physically enjoy myself anyway? I aim to change that - however I can - if this year is to be 'recovery', then next year I hope to be walking free (or waddling-free, whatever hahaha) to whenever I can afford, or not.
Regardless of personal ability (or lack thereof), I am still thankful I can see Comic-Con via folks' reports, images and videos from across the board And even though my online vision is limited to only the few locales I know of, I am grateful still I can even see what's going on at an event so far away geographically. Humbly, I thank you all for sharing SDCC with the world.
Cheers
Andy
