恭喜!恭喜!
Today is the first day of Chinese New Year, where in Singapore, the tradition is for (immediate) family visitations! A day where you go pay respects to the elders in the family, and meet folks you might not meet for the entire year, except for this one time - and this is also that time in a year, when my grasp of the Teochew language is most tested LOL
DID YOU KNOW? That visiting during CNY, you are to present two Mandarin Oranges to the household you visit? And that means two oranges to each family as well - so if in one house visit here are 5 different (nucleus) families, you are to present two oranges EACH to then, as a sign of good luck and good blessings, and in return, they present a pair of oranges to you too (you guys do a swap!).
So either you have a bag filled with oranges (which you call in advance to recce the household you are about to visit), or you are good in juggling the same pair of oranges with multiple folks LOL
Safe journey, folks! Gong Xi Gong Xi!
And The Happiest of Chinese New Year to all readers of TOYSREVIL!
