Media / Press Conference for The Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention 2013
The Media / Press Conference for Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention 2013 happened today Thursday morning, atone of the Meeting Rooms at Sands Expo and Convention Center itself (the venue for STGCC this weekend!), and I managed to hobble my way there, eye-patch ever ready to meet the world! And always awesome to meet friends both new and old!
(L-R): Luke Chueh / Angry Woebots / J*RYU
My sincere apologies for the grumpy duck-face, guys!
I will not pull a duck-face again becoz it is fugly on me...
Here is a quick summary of what happened, along with hideous photos by yours truly - and no, I am not proud of them - and if ever i am attending further press cons (and if ever I am still blogging, in the first place), I sure as heck need to find me a pro-photographer! Work-for-toys, anyone? :p
The proceedings begun with an introduction to Hideo Baba from Namco Bandai Games Asia - who introduced a plush character (the name of which I have shamefully forgotten ;p), which was in turn held by Korean cosplayer Aza, when she stepped up on stage, complying a character from a game Hideo produced (nice touch, this).
The Army of Snipers team of Angry Woebots, J*RYU and Luke Chueh were next to be in the hot seat, by which Aaron was promptly invited to draw "live" on stage, while Jess and Luke was interviewed by the host of the event Elliot Danker.
The press con wrapped subsequently with cosplayer VAMPY, Joe Madureira and C.B. Cebulski taking the spotlight, taking about their craft and plans, which were decidedly down to earth and heart-warming actually. Joe wants to travel the island by himself to absorb the environment, while C.B. was to return to Chinatown, to look for the three aunties he met last year, while they were eating durians and having beer. Truly awesome, IMHO.
I managed to film some videos from the interview round, featuring Army of Snipers, Joe MAD, and Elliot Danker - who himself collects Hot Toys Iron Man (gotta give props to a fellow toy-collector / geek, c'mon!) - so stay tuned for that, folks!
I did not get to interview Linda at all - thanks to the media frenzy - but managed to snap a *derp*-Psylocke, because Linda is the awesomeness.
The 2013 Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention happens this weekend Saturday, August 31st to Sunday, September 1st, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands. This is a ticketed event, with a single day priced at SGD$19 per person. See you there, folks!
