SOFUBI-MAN (Online) Custom Show Launched July 31/2019 & Preview from @kaijulegion!
@maxtoyco announced the SOFUBI-MAN Custom Show, with the exhibition happening July 31st online exclusively via www.maxtoyco.com! Featuring invited artists working on the 6-inch tall Sofubi-Man vinyl /sofubi figure (sculpted by artist @cristina_ravenna / recently nominated for "Best Production Sculpt" in the 2019 Designer Toy Awards too!), we currently have a entry from Vinyl Kaiju Legion to gawk at;
""Thing infected" Sofubi Man custom (is) my homage to my favorite movie, John Carpenter's The Thing. Sofubi Man figure by Max Toy Co. Thing portion sculpted using Milliput. Entirely hand painted using Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics with a Monster Kolor clear coat." (Insta @kaijulegion)
And if you do not know by now the genesis of "Sofubi-Man"'s design by Mark Nagata, is his homage to the masters of soft vinyl casting Japanese toys, perhaps inspired by Shimizu-san seen here in his soft vinyl-factory :)
And if you noticed his "Max Boy" sofubi holds a “Eyezon” in his hand behind his back, while the Sofubi-Man instead has Eyezon in his back-pocket!
