RHINO BEETLE by Chris Lee x Unbox Industries for debut releases at DesignerCon 2019 (Event Ends Nov 24)
The Beast Is Back! Or more succinctly, Chris Lee (Insta @thebeastisback) is back (..or maybe it actually should be "The Beetle Is Back!"... but I digress) with a brand new vinyl toy he is debuting at DesignerCon 2019 (Nov 22-24)! Introducing "RHINO BEETLE"!
First available as a resin figure in early-2019, the vinyl incarnation was unleashed to the public in THREE exclusive colorway editions at DCON: "Peach Mist", "Purple Soda", and "Midnight Plum"!
"I worked closely with the amazing team at @unboxindustries over the past 11 months to tweak the original resin version of the sculpt to work in vinyl. While small things changed across the board for technical reasons, the biggest change was the addition of a fully articulated head that just adds a ton of extra personality to the figure. Ever wished the original Rhino Beetle could do a cute head tilt? Well, you can do that now! The log base also includes little slots for the figure's feet so it doesn't slide off."
The "Peach Mist" edition launched Nov 22nd at Chris Lee's booth 2101.
The "Midnight Plum" colorway was initially supposed to be available at Unbox Industries@unboxindustries Booth 1415.
And the "Purple Soda" will be avail. at Chris Lee's booth (run was split), while Unbox will instead be offering their allocation of this edition up on their e-store online next weekend.
Sized 4-inch wide, the soft vinyl figure comes with its own faux-branch to stand upon, and will come polybagged with header-card ... feel free to use your own clear cage to display this cutie in! DCON ends Sunday November 24th, so sort yourselves out stat, and Happy Toy-Beetle-Hunting!
Also, Chris has since revealed two more new variant figures to come in the future, featuring different head sculpts! Shown are unpainted vinyl test shots, which Chris'll have on display at his DCON Booth 2101 ... Look like you might need to get a bigger cage to keep/display all of them Beetle figures!
