"Kingdom 2" On Netflix & A Relook at "The Red Hunt"
No one will get out alive.
"We must stop it at all costs."
Since the premiere date announcement, a teaser for "KINGDOM 2" has just launched, in anticipation of it's March 13th premiere on Netflix.
This South Korean series is set in the Joseon period, and involved royal court intrigues and the countryside village overwhelmed by humanoid-esqe creatures which we recognise as "zombies", but never mentioned as such at all throughout the series, hence the "freshness" of the concept, amidst similar genre shows we have watched. The characters are reacting to the creators for the first time and are resolving/solving what happened along the way. I had enjoyed the series tremendously and reviewed it here [*SPOILERS*], while you can currently watch the 6-episode S1 here on Netflix (Rated "M18" in Singapore).
"Kingdom" is based on the webcomic “Burning Hell Shinui Nara” by Kim Eun-Hee (writer) & Yang Kyung-Il (illustrator) (first published July 23, 2015 by RHK). Season 2 continues where Season 1 left off; "In an attempt to save the people during a plague, the crown prince Lee Chang returns to the palace to find the source of the disease and uncovers other secrets and plots within the palace." I am reminded of my preference for "zombies" as toys - particularly of the 1/6th-scaled persuasion - although I am not a huge fan of the genre (I'm squeamish like that lah), having only own a handful of zombie-fied figures thru the years, with a toy dream of creating a hoard of them, to battle my post-Apocalypse zombie-killing unit "THE RED HUNT", created/kitbashed over a decade ago in 2006! And of course they'll be in my Black+Red color theme :)
