ALERT: Beware Scammers @ Thailand Toy Expo 2020 (May 28-31)

I'll take a break posting about product exclusives for Thailand Toy Expo 2020, and instead give folks a headsup about what I found on their Facebook-page: An alert/warning regarding scammers who had masquared themselves as "staff" with regards to faux payment requirements!

"Dear customers
Please be cautious and aware of bad actors who will claim to be the TTE mediator. Please check your product ref.code before making transactions or any payments. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REFERENCE CODE WILL HAVE TO MATCH THE EMAIL.
TTE will not take any responsibility for this issue." (@ThailandToyExpo)

As listed in their FAQ, under "Shipment methods and payments": "This will vary according to the product owner, we solely act as a platform for this activity." So somewhere somehow the link has been broken, and it might not be directly under TTE's purview? I have neither "inside-information" or even a connection to TTE, so this is surely speculation on my end :p

Seems from reading the comments, folks have been pretty anxious to get at their desired toys, and as well the webpage at www.thailandtoyexpo.com is currently (as of this blogpost publishing) experiencing behind-the-scenes re-jigging, with no specific timeline mentioned. Understandably if there is security-risk with leaked information (*which also might serve as a reminder for folks planning for Virtual Events in the days/weeks/months to come), and also a day of prolonged outages, probably due to the influx of folk logging on? Hopefully things'll be ready to roll out tomorrow at 10am (Thailand time).

It's one thing to miss out on a toy you really wanted, but another to have your cash-money being scammed, IMHO.

Good luck for both the organisers to sort this out, and for collectors to smoothly snag their desired collectibles!
