Three different styles of GID/Glow-in-the-dark sofubi will be available at US$30 each, and/or US$90 for a set of 3, with 50 sets available (as long as they get off the train unmolested and intact...!). I reckon these are his "chibi" interpretations of the "(Shakoki) Dogū" - explained as "earthen" humanoid and animal figurines made during the later part of the Jōmon period (14,000–400 BC) of prehistoric Japan. Wikipedia describes their origins as such;
"Some scholars theorize the dogū acted as effigies of people, that manifested some kind of sympathetic magic. For example, it may have been believed that illnesses could be transferred into the dogū, which were then destroyed, clearing the illness, or any other misfortune."These are not the first editions to be released of his figures from Sciene Patrols, but they are featured for the first time here on TOYSREVIL, and they are adorable, if even their somewhat "morbid" origins = I LIKE!
