PRESS: 200 illustrators and designers from around the world answered an open call to help create the mascots for Vancouver 2010. The winning designers were Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy of Meomi Design - the official mascots were unveiled in 2007.
The original ideas for the mascots were inspired by the style and artistry of the vinyl toy movement. The birth of the designer vinyl action figure brings Quatchi, Miga, Sumi and Mukmuk full circle. Together, with the creative collaboration of toy designers, sculptors, painters and engineers, everyone is excited to see the original design dreams realized with real “live” vinyl figures.
Playable and Poseable ~ Each designer vinyl action figure contains playable, moveable parts. Depending on the mascot figure, arms move, heads turn and feet swivel. Mukmuk doesn’t move but instead has a special foam finger accessory to cheer all the athletes at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
(Cheers for the headsup and support, Frederic!)
