Custom-Feature: Jouwe by Indieguerillas
Besides the customized TV-Eye resin-form selection on show at "TV Eye Toy Launching Exhibition & Custom Show: Happy Shocks, Victim Shakes, Guerillas Rawks" in Lou Belle Shop in Bandung - one other standout custom-piece on display was done on a 10" vinyl-Jouwe instead - this time by the exhibitors Santi and Miko of indieguerillas!
The significance of the custom goes beyond mere aesthetic-stylings, as the character "Jouwe" is originally designed by an Indonesian, and now is being customized by fellow Indonesians for an event launched in Indonesia (Bandung) featuring yet another Indonesia designed and made resin form. "National Pride" has a whole new meaning here, I reckon! Very nice indeed - and congrats all around :)
I had asked the original designer of Jouwe, Bandung-based Marine Ramdhani (owner of MyTummyToys) about his impressions of this custom on a beloved creation of his:
MARINE RAMDHANI: "Actually the first time when I saw the custom, my personal impression was that I was happy that indieguerillas had customized Jouwe with strong traditional Indonesian touch, as well a bit of western touch, with a strong Jogjakarta design style character. Using different materials which include wood, which was rough and looks like the artist was "playing" with it when he customer it - Indieguerillas is the first artist who customizing Jouwe and an artist who had a chance to exhibit Jouwe Vinyl custom in Bandung Indonesia. Anyway he put our local style on theirs … I like this, at least can remember where is all the audience, Jouwe and who are we and where I come from....
MARINE RAMDHANI: "And one thing that I'm surprised is, he drew Captain America in his head, I had just started to collect Captain America figure since I saw the movie trailer few month ago LOL, even I had bought two Captain America figures when I went to China Squre Central last week LOL…"
