Toy-Review: Lovebird Plush by Saltnpaper
TOY-STORY: This multi-colored LOVEBRID plush was first conceived and designed as a paper-toy by Indonesia-based designer known as Saltnpaper, with this incarnation made available during last year's STGCC in December (where I was gifted this plush).
Limited to 150 pieces made, you can currently order this production plush for US$12 per by emailing hello@saltnpaper.com for transaction details (Listed here). You can also bug Saltnpaper on Facebook and Twitter.
The thing about plush figures for me, is that most times the form depends on the integrity of the build. A lot of plush look great on paper, but in person, they have their deformities - be it slight or obvious, and the result is either an adorable visual quirk given to the character, or what looks like a blatant disregard to the original design.
Although this plush is not perfect in form, the unevenness in the tailoring is charming, only because of the radiant little smile of the bird, IMHO - but hey, this bird is made up of multiple colored fabric/fur, so it must have been a chore in the first place to get made as it is now. Kudos for having it being made in the first place! And you can't really go wrong with US$12 for this plush, yeh?
