GODZILLA @ SDCC 2012
GODZILLA will be making a return destructive jaunt thru the big screen, courtesy of Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures. Teaser footage was shown (we don't have that, but we do have a sneaky-snap of the creature from the footage, courtesy of Dread Central), and a poster image was released (we have that posted above!).
The last time Godzilla was on screens, Godzilla "evolved" into a gangly lizard, so here's hoping things somehow remain as they were as close to the original kaiju-styled funnies, IMHO. Here's an audio soundtrack to the film, and a clip from the SDCC panel with the director:
"A city decimated. Completely destroyed. The camera pans by the wreckage of a train, A distant voice is heard giving a speech about the dangers of atomic weapons from J. Robert Oppenheimer. Dust everywhere. Cars crushed. Holes in skyscrapers.
We then see a giant centipede-like creature with many arms and legs smoldering. (You know what that means? Monster battles!) The city appears dead as a doornail. Then blackness. THE ROAR. As in THE roar. Huge bass drop. Raymond Burr finishes his famous speech. Dust...then an arm... a hand... with claws. Pan up... holy shit... the fins. The head. Godzilla. As we know him. The real fucking Godzilla. He roars again. Fade to GODZILLA! With red Japanese title behind it." (SDCC Trailer Description via Dread Central)
