Mic-K Uktra & Creepy G from Thunder Mates for YO'HOOD 2018 Debut
Thunder Mates will be showcasing at YO'HOOD 2018 this weekend in Shanghai (Aug 31-Sept 2) two familiar Disney characters, who've since been "warped" by way of appropriated pop-culture, courtesy of Les Schettkoe and Coté Escrivá!
I would recommend you stake out their Instagram @thunder_mates for any post-event availability updates! Meanwhile, let's take a closer look, shall we?
"Creepy G" by Coté Escrivá (He did "Twisted Bart" with Pobber) featured a "Goofy" in his "Creepy" line, which will be his third polyresin character piece with Thundermates - after "Creepy Mouse" (3 colorways) and "Creepy Duck" (2 colorways).
Cote will be in attendance at the YO'HOOD event, with his signing session at 5pm on Friday. Stay connected to his IG @cote_escriva for updates!
Les Schettkoe's "Mic-K Uktra" first started life as a 2D illustration, and is now manifested unto 3D = sized 9.7” tall and is made of poly resin. "The eyes are representative of all the generations of the mouse." added Mr Schettkoe, who continues to describe the character's genesis; "...The name is derived from the notorious CIA project code named MK Ultra. A mind control experiment where many citizens were drugged unwillingly. Said to have stopped in the 70’s..."
"This piece is a commentary on our current state of mind control. Social media, the Kardashian’s, our endless pursuit of shiny things and the seemingly manufactured discontent of the populace over race, politics and other insignificant differences that keep us at each other’s throats while the powers that be continue to rob us quality of life and encroaching errosions on freedoms. I dunno, I’m not really that smart, but something sure seems fishy. Anyways, here’s my piece hope u guys dig it." (via @bunky_archer / Pic via / #onTOYSREVIL)
