2024 Annual #DesignerToyAwards Returns & Now Open for Nominations
WHAT-IS: The Designer Toy Awards (DTAs) is an annual event honoring excellence and innovation in the field of Designer Toys. With categories like Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Toy of the Year, and Artist of the Year (among many others) the DTAs highlight the year's best designs, concepts, and accomplishments by both veterans and newcomers in the diverse world of Designer Toys.
From the inaugural event in 2011 (where TOYSREVIL was awarded "Best Blog" by voters, thank you), to 2020, the event had been a in-person physical event, held in conjunction with New York Comic Con and Five Points Festival, but die to the global COVID-19 pandemic and worldwide lockdowns, the event went online since 2020.
It has since been announced that this year's DTA returns to an "in-person event" ... with the awards to be presented at a ceremony on June 8th, 2024 during the weekend of Five Points Festival.
And there are quite a few "changes" to be had this year - Scroll thru to read summary, further details to be found on designertoyawards.com, cheers.
The 2024 awards will combine the years 2020, 2021, 2022, & 2023, where nominated releases, brands, and artists must have been active or released between the dates: Jan 1st, 2020 - Dec 31st, 2023.
"To make sure the awards honor as many people as possible, in the fairest way we can, and because we are combining years for most awards, we have separated out Toy of the Year and Artist of Year into separate awards for each year 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023. Unlike previous years, they will be voted on by both industry panel members and public collectors (one award per category)."
For this year, the organisers have also:
- Combined Best Toy Store and Best Online Toy Store.
- Removed Best Production Sculpt (For this year).
- Retired Best Media Outlet.
- Also note: Colorways will now be accepted, "so long as the base design of that figure has not won a prior DTA."
Remember that only nominated items can be considered for the awards, so either you wait to be nominated (if you are the brand or artists), or just straight up nominate yourselves (if the terms fit). Nominations are confidential, got it?
Head on over to designertoyawards.com to nominate your favs, or yourselves! Don't be shy now!
