LABUBU Is Not Going Away Anytime Soon, innit?
With the explosive awareness and demand of LABUBU continuing to rage across the globe, amidst quarrels and fights to own the toy(s), growing trend of naysayers of the creature being "demon-born", and a pocket of humanity up in arms against the character-toy, comes a new line of the furry creature-collectible resized, as well lux fashion adopting The Monsters? So what is LISA doing now? And what has she since started that folks are grappling at wanting to identify and claim a new "toy-rend"? Let's have a glimpse, shall we?
This no doubt is "late news" for Labubu-collectors and fans, but for the uninitiated (still), Pop Mart has just unleashed a new series of LABUBUs, with THE MONSTERS PIN FOR LOVE Series showcasing smaller sized plush!
Have you snagged your new #Labubus yet?

Artisanal Parisian luxury leather goods house "Moynat" (A off-shoot of Louis Vuitton) had just announced their collaboration with Kasing Lung, celebrating his work featuring Labubu, Zimomo and King Mon with Moynat’s signature M canvas.

Scheduled for a "October 11th" release, Moynat has engaged actors Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung promoting the bags featuring Kasing's "The Monsters" front-and-center. And of course LISA has her Moynat bag ready for lux!
With LISA and the rest of the world hanging Labubus (and other assorted plushies, of course) from their bags, it would make sense to have the characters to directly be ON the bags, no? LOL

One of the key attributes of having a LABUBU - beyond the collectibility for toy-collectors - is achieving being a "status symbol" of a trend that has evolved from multiple genres, and in this case a more accessible "music" (by way of LISA of BLACKPINK, already an epitome of global "cool girl chic") and "(underground) fashion", a continuation of bag-dangles-trend and clothing accessories, and of course the interactive collecting playing dress-up with.
If with Barbie being rudimentary a "growing children's playtime", Labubu bridges that age-gap to being a grown-ass adult who instead are expected to buy said toys for their kids. The plush notion of Hello Kitty retains the charm of childhood comfort, the dress-up mirrors the notion of creative creations from both childhood and perhaps even "missing" in their adult work-life, resulting in the LABUBU concept going beyond the border of folks skirting the edges of, but now loud and proud to do so, without much judgement from the masses.
Imagine claiming you "read comicbooks" now, but because of Marvel and DC feature films in existence, folks'll be less likely to judge you as harsh ... much unlike in the 80s when I was a student and being laughed at for "reading children comics", where I had to keep my passion on the down low LOL
I personally am enjoying these ALL-Black #LABUBU (#Lafufu more like) seen online these days... just make sure they are not "digital renders" when ordering tho ... :p

Others seen here are customs, I reckon...?

Look, these are all potent concepts, and especially in a digital age, folks are able to physically interact with their LABUBU plush, providing a tactile object they can interact with and showcase their immediate results, be it store-bought or custom kitbash, and being able to showcase your wares on social media? Both as a Hobby and a Content-Tool? Absolutely fuels the pandemonium.
The next step: Status symbol upgrade via representation in luxury goods, if not services. You know when the next level of achievement unlocked would be a licensed "SUPREME" version, for that above-underground urban street cred...! LOL
And you know when something gets good when multiple bootlegs exist in an attempt to cash in on the trend... and it may well come a time when quality of bootlegs ups a few knotches to compete for the mighty dollar and curiosity. My personal favs these days are the ALL-BLACK Lafufus (which no doubt include faux-renders, so be aware what you choose to order).
Speaking of "status symbol", Kasing Lung's LABUBU is also apart of the character line-up for "Water Parade by AllRightsReserved @ Victoria Harbour!", alongside Sesame Street's ELMO, McDonald's GRIMACE and DOREAMON, with giant inflatable sculptures to be stationed in the iconic Victoria Harbour, setting sail on October 25th (Further event info via @kasinglung).

From larger-than-life representation, back to personal passion endorsements, the idol that helped flame the WANT for Labubus (beyond your already toy-collector converts), LISA had showcased a custom pink Labubu as part of her stage outfit at BLACKPINK’s London concert, and as well have finally met it's creator Kasing Lung - whom gifted her with a special "Momoko" too!

The "magic" of LISA with Labubu(s), was that it was not a "paid endorsement" (that we know of anyways :p), and that it was a organic passion for, that amidst an era of "influence", compounds the legitimacy of her obsession, whom YOU TOO could be "like Lisa"., and collet Labubus too...!
But WAIT, the latest "report" of a possible new "toy-trend" is prophesied with LISA carrying a MONCHHICHI on her bag (Pics via @lalalalisa_m), and folks have noticed and are already grasping at claiming a new trend! Will it catch? Will the world be swayed yet again?

WHAT-IS: Monchhichi (モンチッチ, Monchitchi) is a line of Japanese stuffed monkey toys from the Sekiguchi Corporation, first released in 1974. They were licensed by Mattel in the United States until 1985, and later distributed worldwide directly by Sekiguchi.. (Wiki).
Essentially a vinyl and plush combo-doll, somewhat similar to the make of, and historically preceded Labubus-vinyl plush. Same same but different. My memories of Monchhichi include ARTMS / Odd Eye Circle's Jinsoul (also former member of Kpop-girl group "LOONA") having the doll as part of her life LOL
With the "sudden" grasping at possibilities of being the "embracer of new trends", would the speculation of "Monchhichi" instead be a harbinger of a retro-revival of legacy / "vintage" collectibles? Repurposed or re-imagination, I foresee folks digging way back into their childhood or even their parents and grandparent's childhood for their source of toy-comfort...! But that's just me ... thus far I only own one Labubu, and even then it's a bootleg and I've since offered it up for sale! LOL

Is this Labubu-craze continuing? Or it's inevitable demise on the horizon?
Regardless of anyone's speculation or deepen analysis (for which THIS blogpost you are reading now is NOT pretending to be LOL), the toy-journey continues, with perhaps more custom-collaboration creations (be it officially or non-licensed "homage") with other creators jumping unto the LABUBU-train (absolutely nothing wrong with that, with Hello Kitty or even Ronald McDonald has attained pop-culture iconology), as well Pop-Up Events such as the LABUBU Mini Market POP-Up Store @ Vivo City, Singapore, to help fuel the "need"!
What: LABUBU Mini Market POP-Up Store
When: 24th September-19th October 2025
Where: VivoCity, Level 1, East Court
Opening Hours: 11am-9.30pm daily
Here's a recap (of a previous feature):
LABUBU and THE MONSTERS are character creations by Kasing Lung, and are essentially divided between pre and post-Pop Mart versions, as far as the general public currently knows about. Prior to Pop Mart producing the Vinyl Plush incarnations, there were vinyl figurines with different series released... and even before Pop Mart, How2Work from Hong Kong has been releasing vinyl incarnations of a good few years too, along with various sizes, and as well collaborations with other art toy artists/creators, including T9G.
What I personally am looking forward to be seeing, is more of collaborations with other brands and/or artists, in creating new collectibles and merch to behold, IMHO ... until such time it inevitably exhausts folks, that is LOL
