SPECIES Trading Cards (1995)

"A team of scientists must track down Sil, an alien seductress, before she can mate with a human and resultingly cause the destruction of all humanity."

WHAT-IS: Species is a 1995 American science fiction horror film directed by Roger Donaldson and written by Dennis Feldman. The film is the first installment of the Species franchise, for which I had not partaketh of, besides the first film, which remained "memorable" primarily because of actress Natasha Henstridge's nudity, I admit.

Oh, and of course the creature design that reeked immediately of the xenomorph in "ALIEN/ALIENS", which years later became less of a "rip off" when I discovered it was literally designed by H. R. Giger himself.

And while the 1995 film itself remains a faded cine-memory, I am however in possession of a complete hand-collated trading card set featuring scenes from, and behind-the-scenes snaps for!

"Species" Collector Cards were produced by Comic Images and consists of 90 basic cards (excluding chase and subsets). Featured here are some select snaps to share, cheers.

You can currently view the individual cards/images here, where you'll get to see the actors in select scenes, and as interesting are the behind-the-scenes look, along with write-up of what's happening at the back of the card. The "bonus" for me are the concept and set sketches reproduced.

Alas most cards in my set are regrettably riddled with print scruffs (as seen in images posted here), no doubt due to age (it has been 30 years since it's release in 1995), and the dreaded Singapore humidity. But no doubt a memorabilia of the movie from 3 decades back.

I have since made my sole set available at Miku Market, via the TOYSREVIL-table, cheers. Folks online can snag it too via DM. First come first served, sold As-Is.

Where: Unit 02-09, Queensway Shopping Centre.

When: Open 12noon-6pm every Saturday and Sunday.

Here's a "bonus" add to this post: The Official trailer for the film!

The film starred a stacked line-up of names, including Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina, Forest Whitaker and Marg Helgenberger, and Natasha Henstridge in her film debut role.
