Custom Works on TOYSREVIL (Mar/4/2011)
I like mecha-builds and armor, and Huck Gee constantly produces custom-builds on Munnys that make me lust for toys mutely. His latest creation, the "the Vlad Systems Terrain One Mobile Suit©" for his "Sgt Vasquez" Munny fits such a mold ever so sweetly. But alas, the price-point ever keeps me humbled ~ but I am sure fans do not necessarily feel that way? At least for 10 fans :)
Each figure is signed, numbered and comes with shown accessories. Due to the nature of the materials, some differences should be expected in each figure. 10 figures in this set, $800 per figure. Limit one figure per customer. (BTW, yes, those fingers are articulated)
This set will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. All interested, please email sales@huckgee.com to reserve your figure and make payment arrangements.
Gary Ham customizes a Doc Von Block wooden figure (from Scott Tolleson) for a commission and he channels a "Eddie Munster" from the classic tv series "The Munsters" and names the little fanged critter "Voolfy".
"I hit the wood shop and cut the eyebrows, arms, ears and snout. The painted with cel vinyl." ~ says Gary. Peep more behind-the-scenes snaps here.
With the response to the White Rabbit he did last month, Ian "Friff" Firth decided to go for his first Dunny and work up a Blue Caterpillar to go with him ~ complete with hooka pipe and mushroom box. Looking pretty darn excellent be this evocative custom ~ *Exhale*
The Blue Dunnypillar will go into Ian's online store from March 4th @ 6pm GMT (price undetermined at this post).
Emmanuel L White Eagle aka cyberphunkk shares with us a custom-painted Kaiju Drazoran mini figure (from MaxToyCo) which you can score online via cyberphunkk.com/blog for US$65 per.
Emmanuel-adds: "this was all painted mixed media materials acrylics, gold leaf, and it was layered in coats of clear coat each layer painted and detailed in some areas with china ink and the finally all clear coated nice and thick for the paint job would last for ever." ~ Am really liking the chest details, and if they were little skulls, I would faint-happily :)
Yet another series of visual proof that ANYTHING in the world, can be built with Lego-blocks ~ Peep the LEGO KAWS MILO by Schneider Cheung!
Motorbot joins in the Dissected-toy-"trend" with this Dunny-custom.
"Chad & Berry" are Tesselate Sam's new Dunny-custom offerings that are scheduled for a Friday March 4th drop via tesselate.bigcartel.com, as well you can see more of the both on Flickr. Seems the custom Dunnys are going well for Sam, innit? Now I'm game to see a mashup between Dunnys and Little Heartheads myself tho … :)
I like it that Jon-Paul Kaiser is tackling small scale toy figurines, as well as larger scaled behemoths, and frankly the smaller dudes catch my attention more, first off being the fine line-work and discipline needed for a smaller surface, as well a good pocket-sized custom is always fun, innit? This Joker / Bank Robber look is perfect for this Sam Flores-designed "Billy Bronze" figure from the GetSmall SF series.
