Custom Works on TOYSREVIL (Feb/4/2011)
64Colors lists two custom hand-paints on their online shop featuring "Wood Nymph" the 8-inch tall Munny (US$325) and "Wish Raffy 01" the 4.25-inch Mini Raffy (US$275). Don't expect them to hang around the shop for long. Gorgeous work, as always!
Currently for sale at missmonster.bigcartel.com is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted Mini-Munny from MissMonster, and it is indeed quite breathe taking. And then of course there is the 8-inch tall Munny below! Nobody does monsters like Miss Monster, IMHO. Click on images to view in full glory.
Ian Friff mentioned: "… I haven't done any customs for about a year now - last one was Rhaar a mini munny white tiger for Chinese New Year 2010, so I thought that it was about time I got my ass into gear and here is my custom for this year - Year of the Rabbit - no name, just White Rabbit - with inspiration from Alice and a nod to Tim Burton - and he comes in a custom box too, all hand painted. - Hope you like him."
The White Rabbit custom was made available online via byfriff.bigcartel.com for US$125, but has since shown to be sold out. Meanwhile, hook up with UK-based artist Ian for commissions by emailing ianfirth@me.com.
A montage of images from TaskOne, of his contribution to Gallery 1988's tribute show to stand-up comedians, and he chose Andy Kaufman for his custom (I only remember him from "Taxi" tho ;p). Check out more snaps via KR-forum.
We've seen loads of original custom hand-mades from Sam Millen of Tesse Toys (aka Oakors, Tiny Heartheads etc), but not seem much cuts paints beyond that. But starting Tuesday Feb 8th at 6pm, these custom 3" Dunnys named "Derek & Roger" will be made available via www.tesselate.bigcartel.com. These are Sam's very first Dunnys, no less! Kudos!
NYC-artist Mike "NEMO" Mendez continues adding to his "NEMO Godz Collection" with this particular sneak of a carving from a block of balsa foam, and it's looking awesome so far! Hit up TenaciousToys.com for eventual listing when the deed is done! [via TenaciousToys]
Taking a break from producing original resin robots, UK-artist Cris Rose releases instead custom-resin/vinyl Mini Munnys, in his "Observation Drones"-themed "Clear Vision Mk1/Mk2" editions - in Forest Green and Gold editions. The US$150 pair has since sold out, but this is a look at what you missed (slideshow posted above).
Custom-Mini Qees above for the Feb 14th NYC♥QEE event at Yoyamart.
Pretty aggressive marketing for the event from Toy2R and kudos for artists.
Well done.
I reckon I'll save on the "More Than Meets The Eye"-jokes and seek your undivided attention on this custom commission OPTIMUS PRIME unto a 3" Dunny form. Transformers will be proud of this work by Jon-Paul Kaiser, innit?
JPK-added: "Back in the mid Eighties this guy was every small boys hero and even now I know many grown men who shed a tear when watching his dramatic death in Transformers: The Movie from 1986 (the first of his many deaths). I was asked to keep to an Optimus Prime themed custom, and I decided had to do the original and best version; Generation 1 Optimus."
The sawed-off ears / horns is a nice touch!
And while we sneaked VISEone's HELLBOY QEE in a previous post, he yet shares with folks his HELLBOY LABBIT custom, as well as the PUNISHER cutsom - continuing his COMIC STRIPPED series, but with an interesting skull-mask for the Toyer-Qee below. Wolfgang! You're getting unstoppable, aren''t you?
Is that a Lee Week's and John Romita Jr Punishrs I see? Cool!
From out of the blue, Reactor88 paints up a blue translucent Kalua Moola from Argonaut Resins and is promptly sold out. And it comes as no surprise as this looks phenomenal, IMHO.
We previously showcased customs from Igor Ventura and Chauskoskis, now we have the full ration count of the Dunny-customs for the Kidrobot-forum MOST WANTED Dunny Series 2. Really nice to see folks taking a hand in promoting their own work, collectively or as individuals.
