didn't sleep the entire night til 8am this morning (yes, am a new-millennium-vampire, only i dun suck blood) ... posted up a new video on oblivion and saundered out to the living room at 7am to read the newspapers (and hopefully to put me to sleep. heh), where i read thru the Digital Life section of ST and smiled at the surprising pages radiating positivity (as compared to the YAWN article) on the *blogosphere (*i still detest that term) in singapore ... cool ... and of coz i hadda choke on my own saliva when i read the entry on Rockson (no need to link, you all know by now already) and the obvious-slip they made = PHWAH KAOS! POWER SIAH! like seriously; one-up for singaslang! (i copyright this word "singaslang" can? HAH as if anyone'll give two-shittes ;p)
singlish = broken english, preferred-speak for the everydayman; that only the everyday-singapore-folk can understand.
ie: wahlaueh? why like that one? can dun do or not ah? wahlaueh!
singaslang = singlish-vulgarity (variation of Hokkien), preferred usage for the repressed singaporean-everydayman
ie: wahlaneh! kaninahbeypuahcheeeeebye! dowan to do can? nahcheebeylah!
but i digress ...
laughing out loud like a depraved-hyena at 7am was a good thing, for it exhausted me and hence i could sleep laterz (filled with dreams for which i've forgotten. heh) and when i awoke at 5pm, the news had spread fast ... the trademark of the blogosphere in singapore, i suppose ... which kicked in the conspiracy-theorist in me ...
the sudden fear of:
(1) somehow a backlash on alla these incidents, in regards to the blogosphere
(2) since itz obvious by now; reporters've been scanning the weblogs for info and "news-worthy" elements, and this might get negative reactions (altho, surffice to say; they'd cover their own ass first lah)
(3) powers-that-be (including "concerned/disgusted parents" and educators; ie: non-bloggers) react and decide on a clamp-down on the use of language in ALL blogs.
(4) unneccessary eyes will be on bloggers, more than ever.
(5) Rockson kena tekan.
and of coz im over-reacting / over-thinking to this all ... dun i always? ... and the laughter fades ...
the reality is, within the "underground-society" that "was" the blogging community (in regards to general everyman-mass-consumtion), blogging amongst
very much like comic-collectors = "aiyergh! they can't read ah? have to look at pictures only ah?" or the usual; "comics for kids only, right?" ... and of coz toy-collectors = "aiyoh! so big lieow, still collect babrie dolls ah?" or worse: "aiyergh! you pervert ah? collect dolls?" = and yes, i have heard alla these before, IN MAH FACE and all i can say is > *lancheow* to all naysayers, understand! muahahahaha but ya get my drift, right? ... but of coz now we are bombarded with comic-related-movies and toys, NOT that i'm complaining, mind ... but tis just that everything gets "commercialized" and somehow "diluted" for the masses, ya know? far be it that im now working on an *action-adventure-movie-script about this young blogger who uncovers something that was better left uncovered* (*copyrighting alla this shitte, yeah?) ... tho whether im writing it or not is another thing altogether, innit? HAH! ;p
but i digress again ...
and then i read that kennysia pulled his article (wif nudie pix taken with SPG) from his blog, becoz of a certain dissatisfaction and disgust from his readers? KAOS! even amongst the blogosphere we/they attempt to censor content already, what more the everyman/non-bloggers? SPG post nudie pix = people kaobeh, then kenny post again? LAGI KAOBEH! ... ya know it'll be like: "wahlan! neber learn izzit? other people kana tekan already, you still tee-kee go and do the same?" ... and so what if the blog belongs to you? once ya hit the road of fame, baby, yer stepping into new territory already (no offense to kennysia, tho i doubt he'd EVER read my shitte ;p) and the only "fear" is, one'll end up walking down the road of infamy instead ... head held low ... so what happened to alla the freedom one enjoyed in the past?
am not attempting to induce (is that a right word to use? BAH) a "right" or "wrong" ... and no fingers are being pointed at anyone, becoz in the end, Fame Inevitably Comes With A Price ...
kudos to SPG for surviving the torrent. my respect given.
but will Rockson thread the path of infamy? all eyes are on him now ... also in part thanks to fellow bloggers (ironically), for in highlighting his existence, exposes him to the critical-overeacting-general-populance-that-which-is-the-majority-of-singapore ... and yes, peeps will still laugh (as do i) at his being able to articulate ever so eloquently in singaslang; in a way that we might not even dare to (to his extreme) in
but consider this: SPG+Kennysia cannot show bare breasts (which i missed totally), but Rockson can go on about cheebyes, lancheows and whatever expletives that'll degenerate you and your family's private parts? and get lauded for that too! heh ... power siah ... hey, i sure ain't no prude here, but this ain't about double-standards no more, innit? coz sure; tis about the diference betweeen words and pictures ~ tho in the end, who's left to judge; but ourselves ... and inevitably, the non-bloggers/general-public as well, innit?
but such is a neccessary step for the emergence and acceptance into the general public, isn't it? ... but is there a need to, really? to be fair, tis may all be a "buzzword" (as i've oft said about singapore) and once something else "new" comes, then too the blogosphere will gain back it's "freedom"? ... IMHO.
and of coz im filling my own sphere with hot air once again, breathed in only by myself hahahahaha ... kanina! shouldn't i be writing about my own shitte? nahbey ... and must i resort to singaslang to "connect" with "readers"? (WHAT readers? HAH) = an obvious "no" would be the answer, innit? but then again, who knows such things? who can ever predict what peeps want and how they'll react to anything? ... and we spend most our lives threading the safe-path ... do we?
okay, i stop spewing my hotair now and go look for a late lunch/dinner ... *tummy grumble* ... heh ;p
