"It has been some time since the grand finale of the original film. Anton (Khabensky) continues to fight the forces of Darkness while simultaneously attempting to find and save his son from the clutches of those same forces. But when vampires belonging to the Dark side start mysteriously being killed, and Anton is framed for their murders, he must put that goal on hold and try to escape the Day Watch that is looking for his blood." i guess, for me the allure of the movie is not just it's (oft-abused-term) "MTV-ish" cuts and visual effects, but also it depicts the characters from both dark and light sides, in an everyman light, clad in everyday work-clothes and such - the total antithesis of the "stylish" BLADE (for example), which i reckon is cool in it's own domain (as well as great for random 1/6th kitbashes LOL)

if the online-info is accurate, Bekmambetov is "currently" undertaking "DUSK WATCH" (third in the trilogy) and will be starting Mark Millar's comicbook-adaption into big-screen WANTED [blogged]

btw, "The Gloom" in Nightwatch-mythology is the shadow-realm that exists in-between the worlds of light and darkness, and going "into the gloom" is the act of entering that realm straddling both worlds (pretty much like when Frodo puts on his ring in LOTR *heh*) [via]

*i like vamp flicks*
