Custom Works on TOYSREVIL (Feb/27/2011)

Snaps which I like: Rows of customs in progress awaiting touchups for upcoming release. The Beast Brothers share with us snaps of 8" tall Calendario Azteca Dunnys (last teased here), and yes, I thought that "clear resin" figure looked intriguing in the montage! Haven't yet asked either Carlos or Ernesto is it is indeed a chase, or just a penciled outline cutout LOL


Here's a look at Valleydweller's trio of Bic Buddy customs (previously featured here) showcasing magnetized backarms for articulation and removal. Perfect for hidden weapons and all other sordid sorts of bodily-removal apparatus, innit? Glorious! [Full-screen viewing] Awesome work, Jeremy!


ESC Toy headhoncho Eric Scarecrow showcases a recent custom of epic proportions, making and sculpting up brand new body parts to fit the Eggcore mecha rabbit form from 909toy.com! Erick added: "This one took a little longer than expected but it was worth everything. My favorite part about this figure is the clear foot swirly foot stand."

The custom was on display alongside a sweet selection of others in Shanghai for the "Heavy Party" in November 2010. Next session to come will be in Beijing, possibly May 2011.



"Hug Me Or Be Bitten", or "Cuddle Me And Get Chewed-Off". Each original character creation seems to be both taunting you, and warning you are the same time, whenever their visage greets you, and you will more likely want to do either or both. And amidst the cuddle-muchies come the predominately "serious toys", all looking earnest in their grownup-ness and drenched in artful drips, when out pops a "grin" … this is DIVE BAMBA by Motorbot.

While I think the color-fade is a sweet touch, the lack of details at the head region leaves me a tad discomforting … or perhaps we are / I am too used to "details", I cannot see a toy custom for what it is, and not what it should be … Check out more of Frank Mysterios' custom-Godzilla here. Or it could be just a work-in-progress and I've got my man-shorts in a bunch? LOL



But this Kamen Rider-themed Munny is awesome-cool! Yes, perhaps sometimes "simplicity" is the best remedy, IMHO :)
