I asked Jon-Paul; "What Is Captain America To You?" - and the following is his answer (along with more images of the Qee-custom)!

JON-PAUL KAISER: Now I'm no expert on Captain America or Marvel. I'm a fan, but a casual reader so I just pick up small series, graphic novels/omnibuses etc from time to time. (just in case any of my opinions infuriate the die-hards!)

To me Captain America represents a very true depiction of human nature. Though he's the "perfect" specimen of humanity, his character is still quite flawed; questionable deaths, an almost eager willingness to fight, stubborn and proud. In a way reflecting our own aspirations and reality. It's also quite good that he's not a 'vanilla' character, a generic good-guy with little charisma (cough*Cyclops*cough) and little connection to readers or others around him.

Personally I'm also keen on his historical background. I'm a bit of a history nerd and the setting of his inception during the Second World War is appealing. These days the image that we get of the war is from grainy black & white film, faded monochrome shots and the occaisional blurry coloured footage shakily filmed. Even in movies, there's a world of dampness, grey and khaki green. Captain America's bold (patriotic) colouring stands out a mile in this setting; so strong, bold and unafraid. It's a statement in itself. Even in the film version, where the colours are more toned down and more true-to-life he instantly grabs your attention.

JON-PAUL KAISER: I also find his creation a strange idea as it seems highly representative of the Nazi ideal of eugenics, though with the super-soldier serum rather than selective breeding. It's interesting that he is (virtually) an icon of the regime he was initially created to oppose.

The main reason I like Captain America though is that he looks cool. His outfit is excellent and reminds me of a modern take on the ancient greek gods. The athletic stature, bold colours and the icons of his uniform, particularly those wings on his mask.
