TOYSREVIL's Top Ten Toys I WantNeedDesire @ SDCC 2011

TOP-TEN-WANTS

I've been organized. I've listed toys in lists based on categories and genres. I've tried to toe the line. But now, THIS list is a more "personal" one - this list is about what I WANTNEEDDESIRE from this year's San Diego Comic Con! Check out the list below - you can agree or disagree with my wants - tis never a worry - as tis all about "toys" in the first place, innit? One more day till SDCC ends tho, so I'd recommend you folks to snag what you want asap, before they are gonegoodbyesayonara!

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #1: NIBBLERS & FISHTANK CASTLES

WHY: Are you kidding me? Can't you see the castle playlets? The Nibblers? Created by The Tarantulas, the castle no doubt would be out of my humble abilities to afford (so I assume) while a collaboration with A Little Stranger sees the Nibblers in fabric hoods and all-around palm-cuddly-cuteness (now that, I can possibly afford, maybe). A clothed-Chibi-Nibbler with fabric hood by A Little Stranger? Yes, please! [Images via Toybot Studios + BattleGrip].

The Tarantulas helmed the Onell Design booth (together with Triclops and Ralph Niese on Thursday for a free hours) for GFS 2011, and has since vacated the booth. Best bet is to scope out his Twitter @TarantukasTwit to see if he tweets online availability of these coolness.

TOP10-SDCC-ANDROIDS

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #2: ANDROIDS (Summer Special Editions: Heroes & Villains)

WHY: My desire for these Summer Special Edition ANDROIDS has heightened especially after my toy-review of the entire set of Series 2 Mini Collectibles from DYZ Plastic (hey, I even started a Facebook-page for it!) and these Heroes & Villains imagery is utterly desirable, especially with fabric capes and shiny metallic-surface finishes! [MORE]

Priced at only US$10 per figure, each design will be released for each day of SDCC at the DKE Toys booth. [Images via NOTCOT]. And yes, I want them ALL!

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #3: STEE-GAR & M-BRAVO 5

WHY: I have featured these creations from Jeffrey Lamm for a decent while now, and these metallic-red editions (""Profondo Rosso"" edition) really hit my toy-sweet-spot. Produced by Unbox Industries, these are "Modular Kaijus" (a term which I don't see a whole lot of people grasping actually) whereby the torsos and upper-bodies of both Stee-Gar and M-Bravo 5 are interchangeable! How can one not want a pair of these rascals? As well the screen on M-Bravo 5 provides space for stickers (so I can only hope folks out there will be producing stickers for them lol).

TOP10-SDCC-CANNIBALL-FCKFACE

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #4: CANNIBAL FUCKFACE

WHY: I never did read the comic. I had a hard time reconciling with the name "Cannibal Fuckface" (maybe because exactly I never did read the comic) but Johnny Ryan hit on a swell perverse twist to a wrestler (sorry, my era was the advent of "British Bulldog" and "Ultimate Warrior"). Coupled with the fact the body shape looks like a distinct bootleg done right? Kudos to Monster 5 for sculpting it, and Monster Worship for producing it!

Standing approx. 7.5" tall with four points of articulation, this "Blood Bath" colorway is priced at US$85 per. They were available via Onell Design booth for a fews hours in a day that has since passed. Look for it possibly online via www.monsterworshp.com, maybe … [Images via Toybot Studios]

RON-ENGLISH-BEARBRICK-POPAGANDA-02

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #5: GRIN IT BE@RBRICK

WHY: I collect BE@RBRICKS whenever the designs grab my fancy. And while I used to be pretty diligent in collecting sets (oh those heady early days…), I have since regulated myself to selecting figures worth keeping. And this is one such figure. Designed by Ron English, I am more impressed and attracted by the blister-packaging than the figure itself, actually! But yes, would be absolutely LOVELY to score one of these babies - if I can afford it at all, of course! [MORE]

Available at the Toy Tokyo booth #5437. Price is undetermined at this point.

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #6: GUMDROP

WHY: The adorability is undeniable. As sure as I am able to score one online post-SDCC, it would be a swell-notion to have it actually signed by Eric of 64Colors at SDCC itself (I'm a sucker for such confluence), and that signed item would be a perfect fit for my signed Marshall from 64Colors I received a while back! (told you I was such a sucker for such confluence). But hell, Gumdrop is adorable - and although I am sure there will be other colorways to be released eventually, this glow-in-the-dark SDCC edition is awesome! (Wondering how come I haven't seen any GID-snaps online thus far tho…)

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #7: TK UNLEASHED

WHY: Dammit, the all-red track suit, and a set of four figures in the Action Portable size is irresistible. I only have that Nom De PLUME from the 2010 3AA-member set, and it is frankly awesome, and is a testament to the ability and vision of ThreeA Toys in the realm of toys in that size-range, IMHO. And while I have zero details of what their plan is - if this is their version of the action figure range folks have been snagging up from the big boys like Hasbro and Mattel all these years, this would be an excellent series to follow. [Above de-boxed snap of toys from "Glen" / pics via 3A-forum].

Unfortunately, not all of us are "in the circle", nor do we (and by that I mean "I") have deep pockets - so kudos to those who can afford to play and collect. this size and quality is definitely worth it. Priced at US$65 per set, this seems to be quite a swell price indeed (works out b less than US$15 each - the beauty of non-shipping costs lol).

ThreeA Toys has just been voted Best Manufacturers in the Designer Toy Awards 2011, so that's pretty much an indication of what folks like, no?

MECHABANANA-01 MECHABANANA-02

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #8: MECHABANANA

WHY: I seriously cannot fantom my desire for a MechaBanana from Frank Kozik. Sure I featured it, sure I lusted after that riveted vinyl fruit, but to desire it? Never had the need … until I saw this image of Kozik holding the monster in his hand. I have no idea why I need it (and no, tis not to compensate for anything) but hell, I do and it's gonna cost me a pretty penny too! And hell, dare I even call it a "toy"?

Priced between US$150 to US$200 (as per previous reports, no idea what is the final on the Con-floor tho) - each colorway is limited to 50 pieces only. I'll have the au-naturel yellow, or the Kidrobot-pink edition please? [Additional SDCC-snap via Vinyl Pulse].

WHITE-IN-BLACK

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #9: WHITE IN BLACK

WHY: I was never really what you call "a huge fan" of the Black In White figure series by Luke Chueh and Munky King, until THAT faithful day I saw it out-of-box and held in in my hands (and yes, head-bopped to Backstreet Boys) and now the notion of this white rabbit donning a black-bunny suit is utterly alluring! WANT! ("Toy Poison" courtesy of David Tan).

Never did see much SDCC-snaps of the figure on-sale tho, except for the above pic of Luke Chueh signing prints available from the MK-booth.

TOP-TEN

TOP TEN ART TOYS I WANT #10: I'll "cheat" and leave this space on the list BLANK - as frankly, there are loads more stuff to be seen at SDCC - regardless Art Toys or non-Art Toys - to be had and owned! (I would exclaim "ALL" but you'll judge me lol) … I wish I could feature more about them on this blog, but there simply is not enough time in a day! So what would YOU recommend worth getting / need getting / MUST GET?
Disclaimer#1: Some items listed have prices and availability details, but not all … somehow I imagine myself running down the aisles and lining up for them - well, I can dream, can't I?

Disclaimer#2: The first incarnation of this list was actually "Top Ten Toys I Want But Have No Price" (true story) - but seeing some event-snaps morphed the list bait, while others stayed their course in my wave of unfulfilled desires … (no, I have no mule for this cycle).
