And The Winner for the Best Draw Skulls Contest on TOYSREVIL Is...
A surprising collection of skull-drawings had me scratching my own skull to choose my favorite - and in the end it was down to five skulls I was looking at for the DRAW SKULLS Contest on TOYSREVIL: the skull with the stoogie from Jose Ovalles (the image looks complete, with a sense of portraiture and the simpleness of the glowing red eye dots work for me), the nerdish dude from Diego Moisés Montes Guzmán (which made me smile and pump my fist up in nerd-pride), the colorful rendition from Gunawan Lo (which gives a lightened mood to an ominous skull, even tho the imagery is dire in intent), the impressionist skulls with legs from Alejandro Sordi, and the exploding white skull from Leomar Esteves (something about the stark contrast between the white over the expanse of black makes that image dynamic).
And in the end, after over a week of consideration (so long that someone even thought this contest might have been a "joke"), the skull that left me with a smile on my face, was 'Skull Boy' from Diego Moisés Montes Guzmán's!
Humorous and bursting with nerd-pride, this might not be the most aggressive skull to be had in the contest, but it registers a sense of subtle emotional quality with it's simplicity, and is turned out to be most evocative, IMO. The text read: "skull boy with hair and ears can´t smile... but he can make yo laugh!" = and it did! Diego wins a 2-figurine prize of a M.Skull and C.Skull from the Crappy Cat series! Congratulation!
