Toy-Review: Pirated Trooper Dunny by QUICCS
Housed in black box with a sticker topping (similar to his earlier "Assault & Battery" set), the figure is encased within a snug cut-out foam, along with a couple of sweet stickers. These small touches prove the package with a luxe feeling, and you feel you are getting more than the figure's worth with this, IMHO.
BULLETPUNK: PIRATED TROOPER DUNNY started "live" as a custom piece, and is currently a full resin cast figurine from Filipino artist QUICCS, hand-painted in this incarnation inspired by Stormtroopers from Star Wars. The slight uneasy paint-application in a microscope-vision of the piece, frankly provides it it's indie-hand-made toy-charm, I insist.
Besides that, the sculpt is simply awesome, with QUICC's own take on the figure form and pop culture character - which of course might be a licensing hurdle is Kidrobot decides to do a production piece of this, no? But seriously for a 3-inch tall figure, there sure is a heck'o details in this piece … and I'm loving the blaster gun!
Nevertheless, this piece provides folks a glimpse into one aspect of QUICCS' design direction of mecha-inspired goodness and his "Bulletpunk" style!
