SQUID GAME Collectibles (in 2025 so far)

Is it just me, or the characters in Season 2 of SQUID GAME are not as "memorable" as Season 1's? There's Gong Yoo as "The Recruiter", sure ... there's "Young-Hee" the overhyped giant animatronic doll (in "Red Light Green Light"), and Player 456, as well Front Man and Pink Soldier(s), but everyone else paled in presence from S1's "Kang Sae-byeok", at least in TOY-form, IMHO.



Having just binged all 7 episodes of Season 2, I am exorcising my unsatisfactory watch with a look at some Squid Game-themed toys, currently in the market - for both indie unlicensed mirrors, to licensed banality, cheers.

PLASTIC CELL Features on TOYSREVIL


The 3" tall "HalfBeast" takes on the guise of a green tracksuit "Player", and will be in a run of 20pcs, each figure hand-numbered "001–020". As well there's the black suited "Front Man" (with a "golden" turtle-shell back") and Pink Soldiers! Availability via plasticcell.com - Click under the tab "CELL 001" & "CELL 002", each priced at US$15, cheers.









Interestingly Funko has contributed to their line-up of 6 X Pop!-Vinyls from Season 1, with only 2 licensed character figures from Season 2: The (nearly) Unmasked Front Man and "jegi"-playing Player 456: Seong Gi-hun! Both figures now on preorder for US$11.99 each (linked to Amazon), to be released on "March 9, 2025".

A Black Masked Officer/Soldier and a Pink Soldier 011 ("Kang No-eul") would've been a "fun" add, to round out "4 Pop!s" tho, IMHO.








From Spanish brand MINIX comes a selection of character figures (from S1) each sized (approx) 4.75” tall, with Front Man and Circle Mask currently available on Amazon (linked), where seen on minixcollection.com are also existence of 2 more Pink Soldiers (Triangle and Square Guard), and Player 456. I kinda do like the figure-form's aesthetical proportions tho...







A series of "DZNR" 7-inch tall plush toys from YuMe, featuring Front-Man, Masked Manager and Young-Hee, each US$14.99 on entertainmentearth.com (Linked), coming in packaged in a window box (A missed opportunity to not include a "pink ribbon/streamer" motif design for).




Also available from @yume_toys are mini figures housed in a "Piggy Capsule", featuring Front Man, Pink Soldier, Young-Hee and 2 X Player 456 X 2. Seek available via yumetoys.com (link is currently "dead" tho).



And there's also the "Squid Game Squish" and Bobble Heads to look forward to too... Updates if there are any updates to be updated, cheers.







Rounding off the "generic design" line-up of releases are character figures from Youtooz, with the 4.5 inch tall Young-HEE (US34.99 on Amazon), 4.4 inch tall Player 067: Kang SAE-Byeok (on Amazon), 5-inch tall Player 456: Seong Gi-hun (on Amazon) and the 5-inch tall (Pink) Masked Soldier.



Mind you, these YouTooz-characters are from Season 1 ("Player 067" is iconic)... as is the following "Fisher-Price Little People Collector Squid Game" 4-pack (from Mattel), featuring "Player 199 / Ali Abdul" in the line-up, released "back then" too (currently going for a song on auction and resale-sites lol).



Be it a revival of Squid Game Seasons 1 & 2, or a missed opportunity in collecting, or perhaps even a "mistaken purchase", there are currently "enough" Squid Game Toys to go around, at least until "Season 3" premieres...!

Permit me to end this lil'blog-feature with images from Hot Toys @ Tokyo Comic Con 2024 (above), and incoming Cosbi character figures to be had (which I'd previously glimpsed at Pop-Ups in Tokyo and Hong Kong), plus Beast Kingdoms'!
