One of the "main attractions" (*as far as this "toy-blog" is concerned :p), are (what looks to be 3D-printed) LKY figures, available in 3 colorways! Priced at SG$30 each, they are limited to 30pcs each venue, with all proceeds going to the Cat Welfare Society!
Stay tuned for further availability updates for "Founding Fathers" figures, which we borne from a project with Sonny Liew, created (produced for The Culture Story by FLABSLAB) for "Artist’s Proof: Singapore At 60", an art exhibition celebrating SG60!
Three figurines of Singapore's pioneering politicians – Lee Kuan Yew, Goh Keng Swee and S Rajaratnam – were created the exhibition (Find out more here). The 3 colorways of the resized figure was inspired by "keshi" figures from Japan*.
“The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye: The Exhibition” by @sonny_liew launched December 6th and exhibits thru December 28th at all three venues. Here are some snaps to share, cheers!
WHAT-IS: *A Keshi toy (from Japanese keshigomu, meaning "eraser") is a collectible, miniature rubber figure, often monochrome, originating in Japan from the late 1970s to 90s, popular for its detailed sculpts from anime, manga, and video games, though modern versions use resin or harder plastics. These tiny figures, like the famous M.U.S.C.L.E. (from Kinnikuman) or Kinkeshi, are sought by collectors for their nostalgic appeal and intricate designs, now found in modern art toys and licensed properties too.
