TOYSREVIL: How has 2025 been to you? How was 2025 for you?
HOK LIONG: 2025 has been a real journey for me. Not in a loud or dramatic way, but in a quiet, internal one. There were many moments where I had to remind myself not to doubt what I was doing, not to rush, and to trust that what I’m building will make sense in the long run. Some days felt uncertain, but I kept moving forward, even when I wasn’t fully confident.
2025 taught me a lot about patience. About showing up consistently, even when progress feels slow. I learned to stop comparing my pace with others and to focus on my own path. That mindset alone made the last year meaningful for me.
HOK LIONG: One of my biggest achievements this year was the opportunity to collaborate with artists I truly admire. Working with Takuma Fujisaki and Mogols was something I never imagined when I first started. Seeing our ideas come together felt surreal. I was also incredibly grateful to work with the amazingly talented Keaneric, whose colorway brought a completely new energy and perspective to the work.

HOK LIONG: Beyond that, collaborating with talented artists from the Philippines like TheLiliToys, Rainbow Hermit, and DTC Studios was deeply inspiring. Each of them has such a strong, unique style, and the ability to create together reminded me why collaboration is so important in this scene. It is not just about combining designs, but about exchanging trust, respect, and creative spirit.
Another moment in this journey that meant a lot to me was the collaboration with Hengsuay Eating House. It started as a simple idea. Bringing Luna into a form that was smaller, more approachable, and something people could carry with them every day. Turning her into a keychain, presented as a blind box, felt playful and a little risky at the same time.
HOK LIONG: We created four different designs, each with its own expression and charm. Seeing four different designs come to life and watching them gain momentum during SGCC was honestly exciting and a little surreal. They sold out, and it wasn’t just about numbers—it was the feeling of people enjoying something we made together. Moments like that remind me why I keep creating, and how small projects can bring unexpected joy to both the artist and the collector.
Looking back, 2025 was not about chasing big numbers or fast success. It was about growth, connection, and learning to believe in myself a little more. I’m thankful for every collaboration, every conversation, and every small step forward. All of it reassured me that staying true to what I believe in is worth it, even when the road feels uncertain.
TOYSREVIL: What can we look forward to in 2026 from you?
HOK LIONG: 2026 will be an exciting year for me. After everything that happened before, this year feels meaningful because ideas that once lived only in conversations and sketches are finally becoming real. One of the biggest moments is the release of our first sofubi collaboration, Moorana. Reaching this point took patience, trust, and a lot of learning. Moorana was created together with Merthewiz and Rhinomee, and every part of it carries intention. The name itself says a lot. “Moo” represents the cow, “Rana” comes from the genus for frog, and the rhino’s horn is the most striking feature that ties everything together. Three different identities, coming together as one form.
HOK LIONG: Moorana is simple and elegant, but deeply symbolic. It is not just a sofubi. It represents unity, friendship, and collaboration without walls. Different styles, backgrounds, and ideas meet in the same space, respecting one another. That spirit is what makes Moorana special to me, and I hope people can feel that when they see it.
HOK LIONG: Alongside Moorana, I am also working on a new kaiju character called Turtle Overlord. This character comes from a more narrative place. The Turtle Overlord was once separated from his four turtle brothers. Lost and alone, he was guided by a villain and slowly became an apprentice under the wrong influence. It is a story about confusion, growth, and identity. This storyline will continue and eventually connect when he meets Luna, opening a new chapter where their worlds intersect.
HOK LIONG: For Luna, the journey continues in a different way. Beyond new designs, we are expanding into more merchandise so her presence can live in everyday moments, not just as a collectible. The goal is to let her grow naturally, step by step, and reach people in different forms.
Overall, 2026 is not about rushing or chasing trends. It is about building stories, deepening collaborations, and staying honest to what I believe in. I am excited, grateful, and still learning. And I hope that everything coming next carries the same heart and sincerity that started this journey in the first place.
