dalek's ninyo gosho doll design
"found" these sneak images of Dalek's Gosho doll-design for the Ninyo Project on their myspace-blog:
personally, i found it pretty farnie this stereotypical "yellow-man" parody, which instead of "offending", provides it with a more accessible and affable character design, with little details like the CharlieChan/FuManChu-handle mustache (parodic-homage?), the sweat-bead on brow (court politics getting too hawt, eh?) and the stressed-out back-o-head facial, not forgetting kinky Y-front icon (looks a bit like Tado, innit?) ~ mixed in for measure:
and yes, am diggin' the visually-blinding vest - and i can only guess at what's the rope gonna be used for (court-intrigues never go down well, do they? ;p) ... personally, im liking this better than what i've seen before online initially tho, but that's just my own warped-tastes (LOL) - or maybe it all just works better without the court-cap, whatchu think? :p
there's something about a preconceived notion (via visual association, rather than "knowing" historical fact) about a particularly recognizable form (that which is the traditional Japanese Gosho Doll) and while i understand the spirit and intention of the project, i was not convinced personally ... until Dalek's (no offense whatsoever to the others before him, 'natch). and while you might not agree with me (which is fine), you too can try your own creativehands @ designing your own Gosho, by downloading the PDF-template @ the Create Your Ninyo-page:
