about mindstyle's 36 chamber of shaolin figures in 1/6
last seen (as prototypes) in NYCC'07, MINDstyle is now planning to release Lo Lieh and Gordon Liu (from Shaw Brother's classic kungfu-flick; 36th Chamber of Shaolin) in 1/6th-scaled this coming SDCC 2008 (circa July).
sporting the likeness of the principal actors (Gordon's perfect for a Johnny Mo, IMHO LOL) and period-threads (the style, not the sewing-technique, yo) - neither price nor quantities have been determined as yet, and im wondering what other accessory may come with this duo? (or whether it'll a combined box-set or available seperately) additional interchangeable kungfu-stance-hands would be fab tho... heh.
and would this be a start of a new series of 12"-figures from MINDstyle and Celestial Pictures (made even more remarkable becoz MINDstyle produces primarily designer vinyl, innit? IMHO anyways) ... well, there IS an entire catalog of near-60 years' worth of movies to choose from too, innit? heh.

the facial-sculpts have changed slightly caricature-ish, with Gordon looking a tad "impish" and naughty (compared to the earlier "zen"), while Lo Lieh is looking angrier and more menacing with his cartoonish-downturned mouth - but at least there is a consistent sense of style, IMHO.
the only difference in Gordon's wardrobe is perhaps the shoe, opting for a more "worn-out" monk's footwear instead (or iss that just a prototype-defect? LOL) ... while Lo Lieh's tunic has a more obvious change with the color of the vest, opting for a more earth-toned mood (aka. less flashy LOL).
am very intrigued with the body-form of the figure, as well as articulation - as a kungfu-themed figure, articulation would be key, as it would allow more possibilities of poses, IMHO. would love to review them once they are available (and IF i could afford them , that is LOL)
