heroes series 2 action figures from mezco toys
Series 2 action figures when i was negative about them the first time round?
well, becoz tis Tuesday today, the day where HEROES is shown on cable, but the season ended last Tuesday and now i am having withdrawal issues ... hey it's a legitamite response innit? and to wait til September when Vol 3 goes back on air in the States? imagine how much longer til it reaches Singapore innit? pls spare a thought for us Heroes-Deprived Fans, yeh?HEROES Series 2 peeped on Forbidden Planet @ a RRP of £15.99 per (average) 6-inch tall figure (except for Flying Peter @ £11.99) with a end-June 2008 drop-date - the set features:
- Claude Rains (includes "invisibility pole" = eh? LOL)
- Future Peter (features glowing hands)
- Matt Parkman with Molly Walker (includes a bag of diamonds and a handgun)
- Mr Lindeman (figure includes plants to revive and an alternative wounded head)
- Flying Peter Petrelli (a clear-plastic stand would be nice tho)
... altho i reckon it would be cool if there was an all-clear variant of Claude, innit? ("invisible-man", remember?) ... and no, i don't need "a life", i just want my Heroes TV series! ... *silent manly-sobs*
I have to say that I did enjoy HEROES initially through the first season but the show fizzled out quickly due to the drawn out storylines and lack of action. The effects were minimal and the display of powers too infrequent. The show really needed to be less cerebral and ramp up the action scenarios. On that note, these figures will never make me reach for my wallet because they are so boring with some of the ugliest sculpts that I have seen. They don't inspire play or display. I love many of MEZCO's works but this series (in old school hip hop lingo) is WACK!
ReplyDeletei'd loved the first season, primarily becoz (i suspect) we were in awe and wonderment of it all, the freshness of the (rehashed) premise was a delightful treat, and hell, i was enthralled!
ReplyDeletewhereas by the 2nd season, "they" had to fight against "expectations", ours and everyone else who'd tune in becoz of the 1st season ... man, i couldnt wait for them to get out of Japan - as much as i understand its there to set the Munroe-premise, but *facepalm* ... i liked the 2nd half of the series, when they recognized they were dragging and moved up the pace a coupla notches, and had me reeled in and bad LOL
i also reckon they can't exactly go all-out action too soon tho, becoz how are they gonna top what they've done? it's like certain comicbooks (and most Asian daytime dramas), they drag the story out - and suckers like me fall for it LOL (and on that note, i missed the first ep of Srah Connor Chronicles tonight - bummer :p)
something's missing in the sculpts tho, i just can't place it - seems like a deliberateness to de-impress LOL- IMHO, anyways :p
That photo line up of figures looks awful! Hey look, a group of plain guys in regular clothes, and a kid! Cool can't wait to pick them up! (not really in case you can't hear sarcasm on the internet)
ReplyDeleteNot a great idea.
hey are the action figures available in singapore? If they aren't, do you know when they're coming?
ReplyDeletefarahnatalya = have not seen them around much (but then again i dont go out as much nowadays :p) - but best bet would be China Square Central, i reckon - not too sure about the regular departmental stores or even toysrus tho :p
ReplyDeletegood luck hunting!
