TOYSREVIL: first off Bao (and im sure loads fans may ask this) how come only limited to 5 pieces of Ishikawa @ NYCC?

DR.BAO: Well Andy, the truth is that we were supposed to make more for NYCC, but we realized that we'd better pull off 5 quality ones than rushing and having some that are "so-so" ... You know, the difference between NVC and the majors is that there's no compromise with us, and also we wanted to be able to look at the figure and say "yeah, it was really worth the work we put in."

And you will also notice in the pics that we add the those little details that no one company in the toy industry will add, well not from what I know of! You know stuff like the gold chain, the metal pieces on the crest of the head ... This is the kind of stuff, that for us, adds a lot in terms of the finishing of the figure and the value of the piece ... It looks much more professional than only vinyl pieces or resin ... But again doing this takes more time and can be a hassle, but we're taking that time and try to forget all our frustrations sometimes! heheheh.... I think it's harder for my wife to endure me and Spive during these past few weeks! hahahahaha!

So yeah, I think it's more than the fact that all the pieces are hand-painted - handpainting a piece is quite usual, you know like, there's a lot of artist doing this, but having a figure handpainted with added accesories just raise the bar even further and that's what NVC wants to do.

More than that, you will notice the boxes for the figure, even they are hand-painted! I decided to make this for all our fans there, which I think it's quite special to have a kind of custom-piece, from the toy to the box! And none of them are the same! They are all unique.

TOYSREVIL: am sure the fans would appreciate the effort and notion ... would you want to discuss prices?

DR.BAO: Well, this was hard to estimate too, because seriously we worked so many hours on this that we don't even count them anymore! what we wanted to do was be able to make all this happen for NYCC, whatever effort we're putting into this ... But at the same time we want to be competitive with other toy companies releasing their exclusive and limted toys as well, so we have to set a price that has to be competitive ... and even if we know that what we're doing has nothing to do with what majors do, I mean, I don't think there's any comparison ... so, we put it as an introducing price at US$175.

TOYSREVIL: for the price of a first release of an original designed figure from the NVC Crew? with hand-painted-finish? fans are in for a treat, IMHO ... when will you guys be at the booth? i can imagine the eagerness of the fans awaiting the actual release time to grab the figure - only 5 figures dude!

DR.BAO: hahahaha! Well we know that we have to be at the MPH booth on Saturday for the live painting session, but I don't know exactly the time ... But for sure I'll be walking around with Spive to see what's nice over there, and you know, like touching everything like a kid! hahahaha! Also I always want to bring some toys for my son and daughter, so for sure I'll be somewhere around looking for some Pokemeon or Naruto stuff! hahahahah!

But if there's any reader that wants a copy of it and know what color they want the mask to be in, it will help me so much if you can contact me (v_leclerc [at] videotron.ca) or Vincent at MPH and let us know, so I can start a little something on Saturday before the big rush starts!

TOYSREVIL: will both you and Spive be painting there?

DR.BAO: Spive will be with me for NYCC. But it's only gonna be me that will do the live painting session - Spive will chat with our fans! hahahah!

TOYSREVIL: dude, that's cool (wish i could be there to support you guys!) in closing, how do you guys feel about your figure thus far? in preparation for it's debut at a convention! must be very proud and elated, yeh?

DR.BAO: Well, Spive and I are very happy with the results ... And one of the reasons is that we know now that producing the figure has been very challenging - I mean, from making the molds to casting them, then paint them and then adding all the accessories ... and all this is done by Spive and myself (except the the molding process) ... well I think we can say that we've grown up a lot with this experience ... But this is only the beginning since we have more ideas and versions of Ishikawa that will rock badly! ... But this is another story and it will be for later! Hahahahaha!!!!!

TOYSREVIL: have fun guys! hope to see more of Ishikawa and soon! LOL
